Job Description: Joinery Estimator (Remote)
Location: Remote (Philippines) – Work from Home
Employment Type: Full-Time
Hours: [e.g., 8:00am – 5:00pm AWST, Monday to Friday]
About Alba Craft
Alba Craft is a Perth-based custom cabinetry and joinery business servicing residential and commercial projects across Western Australia. We specialise in high-quality joinery and cabinetry solutions for builders, developers, and fitout contractors.
Position Overview
The Joinery Estimator is responsible for reviewing tender documentation and construction drawings to prepare detailed, itemised bills of quantities for joinery and cabinetry works. This is a critical role that enables the Managing Director to focus on pricing, quoting, and client submissions by ensuring all quantity takeoffs are accurately completed and ready for review.
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, operates with minimal direction, and proactively identifies issues before they become problems. This role suits a highly skilled, self-motivated professional who thrives working independently in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
Review tender documentation, architectural drawings, and specifications in full
Identify and extract all joinery and cabinetry scope items from construction drawings
Prepare clear, itemised bills of quantities for joinery and cabinetry works
Organise takeoff data in a structured format ready for pricing by the Managing Director
Proactively flag drawing discrepancies, missing information, or scope ambiguities before they cause delays
Anticipate what information Ramadan or Jason will need and prepare it without being asked
Liaise directly with Ramadan or Jason to clarify scope and resolve queries
Manage your own workload and deadlines across multiple concurrent tenders without prompting
Maintain accurate records of all tender documentation, drawings, and quantity schedules
Continuously look for ways to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the takeoff process
Skills and Experience Required
Demonstrated experience in construction estimating, quantity surveying, or joinery/cabinetry takeoffs
Previous experience working for or with an Australian construction or joinery firm (preferred)
Proven ability to work independently and unsupervised, managing priorities and deadlines without daily direction
A proactive mindset — you identify problems early, ask the right questions, and take initiative
Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings to Australian standards
Familiarity with Australian construction documentation, specifications, and tender formats
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with estimating software (e.g., Buildxact, Cubit, or similar) is an advantage
Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Good written English communication skills
Reliable internet connection and dedicated home office setup
Working Conditions
Full-time remote position based in the Philippines
Required to work Australian Western Standard Time (AWST) hours: [e.g., 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday]
Must be available for video calls and real-time communication during working hours
Mandatory use of Timelogger with live stream enabled during all working hours. This is a non-negotiable condition of engagement. Live stream monitoring is active throughout the working day to support accountability and transparency across the remote team
What We're Looking For
This role is not for someone who needs hand-holding or constant check-ins. We need a professional who:
Takes full ownership of their work from start to finish
Delivers accurate, well-organised takeoffs on time, every time
Speaks up early when something doesn't look right
Treats every tender as if their name is on the quote
If you are highly skilled, self-driven, and take pride in producing quality work without being asked twice, we want to hear from you
