JOB OVERVIEW

URGENT: Philippines-Based Attorney or Senior U.S. Litigation Specialist Needed for Florida Civil Case
We are seeking an experienced Philippines-based attorney, senior paralegal, or U.S. civil-litigation specialist to provide immediate, high-level behind-the-scenes support in an active Florida civil case.
This is not a general virtual-assistant position and it is not routine legal administration.
We are pro se plaintiffs in a complex Florida civil case approaching trial. The case was previously handled by counsel, but significant work was left incomplete. We now face an urgent expert-witness and compulsory-medical-examination issue and need a skilled litigation professional who can move quickly, organize the record, locate qualified experts, assess procedural risks, and help prepare corrective documents.
The calendar call is scheduled for September 25, 2026. The case has reached a critical stage, so immediate availability is required.
Immediate Mission
The first priority is to help us address:
• Expert-witness disclosure requirements
• Locating qualified medical and liability experts
• Contacting expert-witness referral services and directories
• Determining whether treating physicians may be available to testify
• Reviewing the status of the compulsory medical examination
• Identifying missed or disputed pretrial requirements
• Preparing an accurate case chronology and deadline audit
• Assisting with emergency motions, notices, disclosures, and supporting documents
• Helping us regain control of the case before additional deadlines are missed
We need someone who can begin producing useful work immediately—not someone who requires several days simply to understand the assignment.
Primary Responsibilities
The selected professional will be expected to:
Expert-Witness Search and Coordination
• Identify the types of experts genuinely required by the pleadings, injuries, damages, and defenses.
• Search expert-witness services and directories, including Expert Institute, SEAK, JurisPro, and other legitimate resources.
• Prepare a targeted list of qualified experts by specialty, location, experience, availability, and expected fees.
• Contact prospective experts or referral services under our direction.
• Determine which experts are willing to review records and potentially testify.
• Confirm availability, hourly rates, retainers, deposition fees, trial fees, and turnaround times.
• Request current CVs, fee schedules, engagement requirements, and available deposition dates.
• Track all communications in a clear expert-contact spreadsheet.
• Contact treating physicians’ offices to determine whether any provider is willing and qualified to offer testimony.
• Clearly distinguish treating physicians, retained experts, hybrid witnesses, fact witnesses, and records custodians.
No expert may be listed without a truthful factual basis and appropriate confirmation.
Emergency Deadline and Court-Order Review
• Review the Uniform Trial Order, docket, case-management orders, and any amended deadlines.
• Identify exactly what was required regarding expert disclosures and compulsory medical examinations.
• Prepare a deadline audit showing completed, incomplete, missed, disputed, and upcoming obligations.
• Research the applicable Florida Rules of Civil Procedure and controlling authority.
• Assess whether corrective relief may be required.
• Identify all conferral obligations, including Florida Rule of Civil Procedure 1.202 requirements.
• Prepare a concise written risk assessment and prioritized corrective plan.
Expert Disclosure Preparation
Assist in preparing accurate first drafts of:
• Expert-witness disclosures
• Supplemental or late expert disclosures
• Witness information charts
• Expert interrogatory responses
• Notices of compliance
• Motions for enlargement of time
• Motions for leave to serve late disclosures
• Motions to modify pretrial deadlines
• Motions concerning the compulsory medical examination
• Proposed orders
• Certificates of service
• Supporting chronologies and exhibits
The candidate must identify missing information rather than guessing, inventing, or using unsupported language.
CME Review and Damage Control
• Review the CME notice, court orders, correspondence, video information, and examination history.
• Create a factual chronology of what occurred.
• Determine what was completed, disputed, terminated, or rescheduled.
• Identify whether a report has been issued.
• Prepare a clear summary of the competing positions.
• Assist in drafting the most appropriate procedural response.
• Separate legitimate legal arguments from emotional or unsupported allegations.
Case Organization
• Review and organize pleadings, orders, discovery, depositions, medical records, expert materials, correspondence, and exhibits.
• Build a complete master chronology.
• Prepare an issue-by-issue evidence chart.
• Identify missing documents, unanswered discovery, contradictions, and evidentiary gaps.
• Create a master task list and litigation calendar.
• Prepare hearing binders, exhibit lists, deposition summaries, witness folders, and trial-preparation materials.
Required Experience
Strong candidates should have meaningful experience with one or more of the following:
• U.S. civil litigation
• Florida civil litigation
• Personal injury
• Premises liability
• Landlord-tenant or housing-condition claims
• Medical-record analysis
• Expert-witness disclosures
• Compulsory medical examinations
• Discovery disputes
• Trial preparation
• Supporting U.S. attorneys or pro se litigants
• Emergency motions and deadline-recovery work
Experience supporting a U.S. law firm is strongly preferred.
A Philippine law degree is valuable, but practical U.S. litigation experience, judgment, accuracy, and speed are more important than title alone.
Required Skills
The successful candidate must have:
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Strong legal research and drafting ability
• Experience using Westlaw, Lexis, Fastcase, Google Scholar, or similar platforms
• Ability to distinguish binding authority from persuasive authority
• Ability to verify whether cases remain good law
• Strong understanding of discovery and pretrial procedure
• Experience reviewing court dockets and trial orders
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Confidence to identify weak arguments, missing evidence, and procedural risks
• Strict confidentiality
• Reliable communication
• Ability to work under urgent deadlines
• No use of fabricated or unverified AI-generated legal authorities
We need someone who thinks like a litigation professional—not someone who merely rewrites documents or copies templates.
Immediate Paid Test Assignment
The paid test will involve a real, urgent assignment.
The candidate will receive a limited set of documents, which may include:
• The operative complaint and answer
• Uniform Trial Order
• Relevant court orders
• Current docket
• Existing discovery
• CME notice and correspondence
• Medical-provider information
• Prior expert-related materials
The candidate will be asked to produce:
1. Emergency Status Report
A concise report identifying:
• The current procedural position
• Expert-disclosure requirements
• CME requirements
• Missed, disputed, or immediately approaching deadlines
• The five greatest current risks
• The safest immediate corrective actions
2. Expert-Witness Search Plan
A practical plan identifying:
• The specialties potentially required
• The purpose of each proposed expert
• The records each expert would need
• The best directories or referral services to contact
• Expected search priorities
• Immediate outreach steps
3. Expert Candidate List
A spreadsheet containing:
• Expert name
• Specialty
• Location
• Qualifications
• Plaintiff or defense experience, where available
• Contact information
• Availability
• Fee information
• Records required
• Response status
• Potential conflicts
• Next action
4. Treating-Physician Review
A list identifying:
• Each relevant treating provider
• The treatment provided
• Whether the provider may possess relevant factual or opinion testimony
• Whether the office has been contacted
• Whether the provider is willing to testify
• Whether additional records, reports, or deposition arrangements are needed
5. Corrective Filing Recommendation
A short memorandum explaining which filing or action appears most appropriate, such as:
• Expert disclosure
• Supplemental disclosure
• Motion for enlargement of time
• Motion for leave to serve a late disclosure
• Motion to modify the trial order
• Motion addressing the CME
• Notice of compliance
• Another supported procedural response
The candidate must explain why the recommended action is appropriate and identify all necessary conferral and procedural requirements.
6. First Draft
Prepare a professional first draft of the most urgent document, including a proposed order where appropriate.
The draft must:
• Be candid and factually accurate
• Avoid exaggerated accusations
• Explain the procedural situation clearly
• Address prejudice and potential cure
• Demonstrate immediate corrective efforts
• Comply with applicable Florida requirements
• Clearly flag any missing facts or legal uncertainties

2. Have you worked on Florida state-court cases?
3. Have you prepared expert-witness disclosures?

5. Which expert-witness directories or services have you used?
6. Have you handled late disclosures, missed deadlines, or motions for enlargement of time?
7. What is the difference between a retained expert, treating physician, hybrid witness, and fact witness?
8. What information would you require before preparing an expert disclosure?
9. How would you handle a CME that started but may not have been completed?
10. How would you ensure compliance with Florida Rule of Civil Procedure 1.202?
11. Which legal research platforms can you access?
12. Can you begin immediately?
13. What hours are you available during the next 72 hours?
14. What is your hourly rate or fixed emergency-project rate?
15. Provide one example of a difficult litigation matter you helped organize or recover.
Generic applications will not be considered.
Important Scope Limitation
This is a litigation-support, legal-research, expert-search, document-review, case-organization, and drafting position.
Unless separately admitted and authorized to practice law in Florida, the selected candidate will not:
• Appear in court
• Sign pleadings
• Act as attorney of record
• Communicate with opposing counsel as our attorney
• Represent that they are licensed in Florida
• Independently provide services constituting the unauthorized practice of Florida law
Final decisions, filings, and court appearances will remain the responsibility of the pro se plaintiffs and any Florida-licensed counsel retained for limited-scope review.
Opportunity
This begins as an urgent paid assignment but may become an ongoing engagement through expert discovery, mediation, pretrial compliance, and trial preparation.
We are looking for someone who can bring speed, order, accuracy, strategic thinking, and discipline to a difficult case.
The right person will not simply tell us what we want to hear. They will identify what is missing, explain what can realistically be fixed, and help us take the strongest legally supportable next steps.
