ABOUT THIS WORK
We are building Cats of the World — a global, editorial celebration of cats. This role combines two things of the same high quality: documentary storytelling about cats from around the world and blog-to-video pieces that use one of our blog posts as the script. Atmospheric, cinematic, story-first. Paid per video, ongoing.
BRAND VOICE AND LOOK (read this — it is the whole job)
This is the antithesis of cute. None of our brands is cute or cutesy, and this one is the least of all. Cats are revered, dignified subjects — never "the cat," "kitty," "fur baby," or "cute."
Cats of the World: think Kinfolk, Aesop, a Vogue photo-essay — every city, every corner, every cat. Atmospheric, restrained, monochrome-leaning, cinematic. Mood and craft over flash.
Blog-to-video pieces: the same luxurious, editorial, educational quality, built from the blog's storyline.
We talk to our audience. If a cut feels like "cute cat content," it is wrong.
THE DELIVERABLE
5–7 micro-films per week — a mix of documentary Cats of the World pieces and blog-to-video pieces
Built from premium licensed stock (Artgrid + Storyblocks, or your own premium libraries, blog-to-video pieces use the blog we give you as the script.
One clear idea per piece, sequenced into a coherent micro-story
PRODUCTION STANDARDS (firm)
Format: 9:16 vertical, 1080×1920 MP4
Length: 15–30 seconds
Hook: a reason to keep watching in the first 1–3 seconds
Color grade: cool/neutral editorial — warm or golden grades are an automatic no; no heavy filters
Loop: end frame flows cleanly back to the opening
No burned-in text — our team adds captions
No watermarks of any kind, from any app
Audio: do not deliver silently. Deliver with rich sound — a cinematic or ambient bed, ASMR or natural sound, and/or a U.S. trending-style audio that fits the story.
100% human editing, no AI-generated footage or subject. Hard rule, we screen for it.
REVISIONS AND QUALITY GATE
One revision round is included per video — we flag anything off-spec, you fix it
We pay per batch on approved weekly delivery; hitting the bar each week continues the engagement
Quality is the only thing that earns more work—consistently missing spec after a revision round ends the engagement.
LOGISTICS
Remote, ongoing; 5–7 per week at your pace
Viewer access to blogs, briefs, and reference via our secure Drive; files named to our convention
Paid per batch via Remitly on approved delivery
Reports to the Operations Manager for handoff and review
TO APPLY
Link your reel or 2–3 short-form pieces you personally edited (documentary, atmospheric, or editorial preferred).
Walk us through how you would turn a single idea — "a cat at a window at dawn" — into a 20-second story. What clips, what pacing, what grade, what sound?
We give you a blog titled "Why cats choose one person." How do you turn that into a 20-second luxurious, educational video?
Which stock libraries do you work in, and how do you find footage that does not look like stock?
Paid sample: finalists edit one 15–30s micro-film from a brief as a paid sample ($20, paid whether or not we proceed). The premium sample fee reflects the craft we expect.
We read every application. Generic or AI-written responses will not move forward.
