About us
We're a small, established group of UK-based businesses, and we've worked successfully with remote tea
About the role
Our companies vary in size — some have steady activity, others only a handful of transactions a month — so the work is varied and manageable rather than high-volume. You'll work closely with our finance lead, who'll train you on our specific systems over your first few months, with the aim of you confidently owning the bookkeeping routine over time. This is a long-term role for someone who wants stability and room to grow.
Hours
10:00–17:00 UK time, Monday to Friday (an early-evening shift in PH time — not an overnight role)
You'll need to be available during these hours for calls, client enquiries,
What you'll do
* Day-to-day bookkeeping across several businesses in Xero
* Record and reconcile bank transactions accurately
* Manage accounts payable and receivable (supplier bills, customer invoices, chasing where needed)
* Keep financial records clean, consistent and up to date
* Maintain financial data in Excel (we work in Excel and Dropbox — no Google Sheets)
* Produce simple regular reports (cash position, outstanding balances)
* Assist with VAT return preparation and supporting paperwork
* Support payroll checks before processing
* Help prepare information for year-end and liaise with our external accountants when needed
* General accounts and business-data admin to keep the finance function organised and running smoothly
What we're looking for
* Solid, hands-on bookkeeping experience, ideally across more than one business or client
* Confident Xero user (essential)
* Strong Excel skills
* Comfortable with UK bookkeeping, or a fast learner we can train on the specifics
* Accurate, organised, and able to spot when numbers don't look right
* Good spoken and written English — confident on calls and in meetings
* Reliable, self-managing and consistent in your hours
* Experienced but happy to be guided into how we do things — we value people who take direction well
* Trustworthy with confidential financial information
Nice to have
UK VAT experience
Payroll familiarity
Accounting qualification (not essential — experience matters more)
Salary, leave & terms
$850/month USD (paid weekly at $200/week during your first two months, then monthly)
2-month probation period. Notice during probation: 1 week. After probation: 2 weeks
Paid annual leave: after probation, up to 5 days' paid leave for the remainder of this year, increasing to up to 10 days' paid leave per year from next year
Remote, full-time, long-term, with training and progression built in
