Apparel Graphic Designer | T-Shirt Designs, Typography & Ecommerce Product Concepts
We are looking for a talented part-time Apparel Graphic Designer to help create original apparel designs for a growing ecommerce brand.
This role is focused on creating strong, marketable designs for t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, hats, patches, and other apparel-based products.
The main goal is to create more high-quality design concepts so we can test more product listings, identify what customers respond to, and eventually develop winning signature products.
This is not a general VA role. This is not mainly a social media role. We are looking for a designer who can create original product graphics that look good, feel wearable, and have ecommerce selling potential.
Main Priority: Apparel Design
The main focus of this role is creating original apparel graphics.
You should be able to design:
* T-shirt graphics
* Hoodie and sweatshirt designs
* Typography-based apparel designs
* Badge and patch-style graphics
* Statement designs
* Faith-forward designs
* Patriotic designs
* Local/city/state-inspired designs
* Vintage-inspired graphics
* Clean minimalist apparel concepts
* Product design variations and colorways
We are looking for someone with strong taste in typography, layout, spacing, and wearable product design.
Brief Workflow
In many cases, we will provide the niche, phrase, theme, product idea, or general direction.
From there, your job will be to create multiple design concepts based on that direction. We will review the designs, give feedback, choose the strongest ones, and continue refining from there.
Some designs may be used for test listings to see what customers respond to. Winning designs may eventually become signature products or part of a larger collection.
We are looking for someone who can take a rough idea and turn it into strong, sellable apparel design options.
What We Need From You
You should be able to:
* Create original designs from scratch
* Create multiple design concepts from one idea
* Understand current apparel design trends
* Understand what looks good on t-shirts, hoodies, and hats
* Use strong typography and layout
* Create clean, production-friendly artwork
* Follow brand direction and references
* Take feedback and revise quickly
* Create mockups to show how designs look on products
* Organize files clearly
* Deliver designs consistently
We do not need overly complicated artwork. We need clean, strong, marketable designs that people would actually want to wear.
Design Style We Like
Our preferred style may include:
* Clean typography
* Premium minimal design
* Vintage-inspired apparel graphics
* Collegiate / athletic-style layouts
* Badge-style designs
* Strong statement designs
* Faith-forward concepts
* Patriotic concepts
* Local pride / city-inspired concepts
* Simple but impactful visuals
We do not want designs that look generic, overly cluttered, copied, or like basic template work.
Production Awareness
You do not need to handle final production or POD setup.
However, you should understand that designs need to work on real products. Designs should be clean enough for apparel printing, embroidery, patches, or product mockups when needed.
You should avoid artwork that is too thin, too detailed, hard to read, or difficult to produce.
Tools
You may use tools such as:
* Adobe Illustrator
* Photoshop
* Canva
* Kittl
* Figma
* Procreate
* AI design tools
* Or similar design software
We care more about the final result than the exact tool, but designs must look professional and be delivered in usable file formats.
File Deliverables
Depending on the project, we may ask for:
* PNG with transparent background
* SVG, PDF, AI, or editable source file when available
* Product mockup preview
* Organized design files
* Font names or design notes when needed
* Colorway variations
Helpful Experience
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
* T-shirt design
* Apparel brands
* Etsy products
* Shopify products
* Print-on-demand products
* Kittl or Canva apparel design
* Typography design
* Merch design
* Hat or patch design
* Ecommerce product mockups
This role is focused on creating apparel designs and product concepts.
Hours & Schedule
This is a flexible part-time role to start.
Hours are flexible and negotiable depending on your skill level, availability, communication, and quality of work.
We may hire more than one designer because we want to test more product ideas and build a stronger design pipeline.
We are looking for someone creative, dependable, detail-oriented, and consistent.
The right person understands that ecommerce apparel is about testing ideas, improving designs, and finding products that customers actually want to buy.
We want designers who can bring ideas to life, create strong product concepts, and help us build a bigger pipeline of testable apparel designs.
