We are an independent fiction publishing house producing short novellas across multiple genres. We publish consistently and we are building a reliable writer we can grow with long-term.
This is NOT a ghostwriting gig for corporate content. This is fiction — character-driven, plot-forward, genre-specific storytelling. If you love reading as much as writing, you will thrive here.
We provide detailed story briefs for every project: character sheets, scene structures, trope notes, and word count targets. Your job is to bring the brief to life on the page. Strong writers who follow a brief well earn consistent work and pay increases within 3 months.
We work across the following categories. Experience in at least two of these is preferred:
• Romance
• Sci-Fi
• Horror
• Paranormal
• Thriller
You do not need to write all genres equally well. Tell us your strongest two, and your writing samples should reflect them. To confirm you have read this job post in full, your application message must include the phrase “crimson ink” somewhere in your opening paragraph.
We are looking for candidates who are:
• Strong English prose with natural-sounding dialogue — not ESL-adjacent, not stiff
• Ability to follow a detailed story brief precisely — we structure your books for you. With the potential to give you more creative liberty in the future.
• Reliability and communication — deadlines matter, missed timelines must be flagged early
• Willingness to revise based on editorial feedback without excessive back-and-forth
Send your application with the following. Incomplete applications are skipped.
• 1–2 writing samples in your strongest genre (minimum 2000 words each — excerpts from longer works are fine)
• A brief note on what genres you write best and why
• Your realistic weekly word count output on a full-time schedule
• How many other clients or jobs are you currently working with
