We are seeking a skilled, autonomous Remote Mechanical HVAC Designer/Drafter to join our team. In this role, you will develop comprehensive 2D production drawings for building services HVAC systems. Since this is a 100% remote position, you must have excellent communication skills, a reliable workstation, and a proven track record of coordinating MEP services virtually.
Core Responsibilities
Virtual Modeling: Create precise 2D HVAC models (ductwork, piping, plant rooms) and generate 2D construction plans. [
MEP Collaboration: Run clash detection and coordinate HVAC layouts virtually with architectural, structural, Hydraulic and electrical teams.
Design Implementation (optional for engineers): Translate engineering sketches, equipment submittals, and heat load calculations into fully detailed, buildable schematics.
Quality & Compliance (optional for engineers): Maintain strict adherence to local building codes, ASHRAE standards, and internal company drafting layers and standards.
Digital Documentation: Manage drawing revisions, maintain clean file structures, and upload deliverables to cloud project management platforms.
Remote Work Requirements
Hardware: High-performance personal workstation capable of running intensive 2D CAD software without lag.
Internet: Reliable, high-speed internet connection suitable for large file transfers and seamless video conferencing.
Environment: A quiet, professional home office setup conducive to focused work and virtual meetings.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 3+ years of experience drafting and designing HVAC systems specifically for building services.
Software Tools: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD. Experience with cloud MIC 365 and Dropbox.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of HVAC components, duct sizing, piping layouts, and mechanical plant room spatial requirements.
Soft Skills: Exceptional self-management, proactive communication, and the ability to hit tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
