ABOUT US
NJ Elite Group is a fast-growing New Jersey real estate brokerage and investment company. We specialize in residential sales, off-market acquisitions, fix-and-flips, rental properties, property management, private lending, and investor services.
We are seeking a highly experienced Real Estate Accountant who can take ownership of our day-to-day accounting operations while also assisting with administrative and operational functions across the business.
THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY-LEVEL POSITION.
We are specifically seeking applicants who have prior accounting experience in the real estate industry. Candidates with previous experience supporting a real estate brokerage, property management company, investment firm, or real estate developer will be strongly preferred.
Experience with New Jersey real estate accounting is a major plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting & Financial Management
• Maintain accurate financial records across multiple companies and entities
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and escrow accounts
• Track property acquisition, renovation, and disposition expenses
• Monitor fix-and-flip project budgets and profitability
• Prepare monthly financial reports and cash flow summaries
• Assist with bookkeeping and financial reporting for rental properties
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Coordinate with our CPA and accounting firm (Harquin) to ensure clean and accurate books
• Assist with year-end tax preparation and reporting
Brokerage Accounting
• Calculate agent commissions accurately
• Track commission splits, referral fees, team splits, and transaction fees
• Monitor agent cap programs and commission plans
• Prepare commission statements
• Audit transactions for accounting accuracy
• Reconcile brokerage trust and operating accounts when required
• Support transaction-to-closing accounting workflows
Operations & Administrative Support
• Assist ownership with special projects
• Help improve accounting systems and reporting processes
• Support administrative initiatives when needed
• Create and maintain SOPs and financial procedures
• Assist with operational reporting and KPI tracking
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
• Minimum 2+ years of real estate accounting experience
• Experience working with a real estate brokerage, property management company, investor, developer, or construction company
• Strong understanding of financial statements and reconciliations
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills
• Experience with QuickBooks Online
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Ability to work independently and solve problems
HIGHLY PREFERRED
• Previous experience supporting a New Jersey real estate brokerage
• Understanding of commission structures and agent compensation
• Experience with property management accounting
• Experience tracking construction and rehab budgets
• Knowledge of trust accounting
• Experience supporting multiple LLCs and real estate entities
