This role is ideal for someone who enjoys analyzing project requirements, preparing accurate estimates, building strong client relationships, and contributing to the growth of a fast-paced organization.

Position Summary

The Mechanical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for plumbing, mechanical, and piping projects. The successful candidate will review drawings and specifications, perform quantity take-offs, source pricing, prepare proposals, and work closely with operations and clients to support successful project delivery. .* source new job potential

Key Responsibilities

- Review drawings, specifications, tender documents, and project requirements.
- Perform detailed material and labour take-offs for plumbing and mechanical projects.
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and quotations.
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Develop project budgets and estimate labour requirements.
- Prepare tender submissions and customer proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and operations teams to ensure estimate accuracy.
- Track awarded and lost projects to improve estimating accuracy and competitiveness.
- Maintain estimating databases, labour units, and pricing information.
- Assist with project handoff meetings and support project execution teams.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, consultants, and suppliers and build new relationships with potential clients and contractors

Qualifications

- 3+ years of estimating experience within the plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, or construction industry.
- Strong understanding of plumbing systems, mechanical systems, and construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
- Experience preparing estimates for commercial, industrial, multi-family, or residential projects. *restaurants
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience using estimating software is considered an asset. (Ex: Trimble, Bluebeam)
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

Preferred Experience

- Proven experience in construction estimating, particularly within the mechanical and HVAC sectors.
-Experience with design-build and negotiated projects.
-Knowledge of local building codes and industry standards.
-Familiarity with mechanical project management processes.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in cost calculations.
