We're a DTC ecommerce brand running high volumes of video ads
looking for a generic "video editor." We're looking for someone with real, proven experience
editing ecommerce / direct-response ads who understands that the goal is to stop the scroll,
hold attention, and drive a click — not to make something cinematic.
You'll work in both formats: short-form (15–45s scroll-stoppers) and long-form
(2–5 minute advertorial / VSL-style videos). Here's how we work: we send you a reference ad
(or two) that shows the style we're going for, plus our raw clips. Your job is to study that
reference, match its look, pacing and structure, and build our ad in that style — with room to use
your own judgment and creative instincts. We don't hand you a shot-by-shot timeline. Where you need
footage we didn't provide, you source it yourself (stock, B-roll, UGC-style clips). So you have
to be able to read a video and recreate its feel, not just follow step-by-step instructions.
You must have hands-on, proven experience with:
Ecommerce / DTC ad editing — this is non-negotiable; show us the ads
Both short-form AND long-form ad editing (advertorial / VSL-style 2–5 min videos)
Sourcing your own footage — stock libraries (Storyblocks, Artgrid, Envato, Pexels, etc.),
B-roll, and UGC-style clips that match a script beat
Matching a reference / style ad — watching an example and recreating its look, pacing
and structure (not following a shot-by-shot timeline)
CapCut and/or Submagic (auto-captions, beat-syncing, exports)
Talking-head / UGC ad editing (HeyGen avatar footage is a plus)
Fast turnaround at volume (multiple ads per week)
What we don't need: wedding/event editors, motion-graphics showpieces, color-grading reels, or
people whose only experience is long-form YouTube vlogs. If you haven't edited ecommerce ads before,
we're not a fit — please don't apply.
This role is for you if: you can watch a great ad and figure out why it works, you're fast and
consistent, you have good creative instincts but stay on-brief, and you communicate proactively when
something's unclear.
Pay: $800–1,000 / month depending on experience. Full-time, long-term, with raises for top
performers.
To apply — read carefully (we ignore applications that skip this):
Start your reply with the word "SCROLL-STOP" so we know you read this.
Send us as many ecommerce ADS as you can that you personally edited — we want to see a real
body of work, not one lucky example. Include both short-form and long-form if you have them.
These should be actual ads (not showreels, not client logos). For each, one line on what you did.
Tell us about a time you sourced footage yourself for an ad — where you found it and how you
chose it. Which stock libraries / sources do you use?
Tell us which tools you use and your typical turnaround for (a) a 30–45 second short-form ad and
(b) a 2–4 minute long-form ad.
One line: what makes an ecommerce ad keep someone watching past the first 3 seconds?
We reply to everyone who follows these 5 steps. Looking forward to seeing your work.
