JOB OVERVIEW

I am an industrial consultant managing a specialized operation focused on refinery catalyst recycling and critical mineral recovery (specifically targeting the extraction of vanadium, molybdenum, and high-alumina ceramic support media).

I am seeking a highly analytical, self-directed Virtual Assistant for a long-term, part-time position (10 hours per week). Our working dynamic will be highly autonomous: I will provide you with very general directions or broad areas of business we want to investigate, and your responsibility will be to dive deep into the data and return with highly detailed, comprehensive reports.

Because we deal with proprietary industrial processes and highly sensitive market data, strict data privacy is a foundational requirement for this role.

(Note: In the future, as time allows, this role may slightly expand to include digital formatting or administrative support for a separate publishing project, but the immediate focus is 100% technical and market research).

Data Privacy & AI Workflow:
Protecting our intellectual property is our top priority. You will be provided with a dedicated Google Workspace and Gemini AI account to conduct your research. You will be required to execute our strict Information Sharing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP):

Isolated Research: All AI research must be kept in specific, isolated chat instances.

Immediate Export: Upon generating useful data, lists, or formatting, you must immediately export the files directly to our secure Google Shared Drive.

Data Wiping: Once the data is securely in the Shared Drive, you are required to permanently delete the AI chat history (or operate with history logging turned off) to ensure zero digital footprint is left on the AI platform's backend.

Core Responsibilities:

Autonomous Research & Reporting: Take broad concepts or general business sectors provided by management and independently execute deep-dive research to produce highly detailed, structured reports.

Customer & Catalyst Mapping: Identify potential Canadian customers (such as refineries and industrial facilities) and conduct detailed research into their specific operating units, cross-referencing these units with the exact types of catalysts they utilize.

Technical Data Mining: Research and compile literature, studies, and data regarding chemical extraction processes, synthetic mining technologies, and catalyst recycling methodologies.

Industrial Market Research: Track and document global market pricing, supply chain trends, and demand forecasts for specific critical minerals. Analyze competitor activities and commercial developments within the synthetic mining and recycling sectors.

Regulatory Monitoring: Aggregate relevant environmental and industrial regulatory updates for operations in the Alberta region and across Canada.

Data Synthesis: Extract the most critical data points from dense technical documents, patents, or market reports, and organize them into clean, structured spreadsheets and summary briefs.

Other General Duties:

Monthly Industry Newsletter: Curate and compile your ongoing research findings, market updates, and regulatory changes into a polished monthly industry newsletter.

Document Preparation: Assist in formatting raw technical and market data into highly professional presentation materials for internal review and stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience:

Strong background in market research, technical data mining, or academic literature review (a background in engineering, economics, or industrial sciences is a massive plus).

Proven ability to take a vague or general prompt and independently transform it into a thorough, granular research report without needing constant micro-management.

High-level reading comprehension with the ability to quickly understand and synthesize dense industrial terminology (such as specific refinery units and catalyst compositions).

Exceptional data organization skills using Google Sheets/Excel.

Impeccable professional integrity and a proven track record of adhering to strict data privacy protocols and standard operating procedures.

How to Apply:
To ensure you possess the attention to detail required for deep technical research, please start your application or cover letter with the exact phrase: "Technical Market Assistant Ready." In your proposal, please include:

A brief example of a time you took a broad or general research prompt and delivered a highly detailed, synthesized report.

The tools or methods you use to organize your research findings and track market trends.

Confirmation that you understand and agree to the strict AI Data Privacy SOP outlined above.

Confirmation that you are fully aligned with the $250 - $280 USD/month budget for 10 hours a week.
