JOB OVERVIEW

E-commerce on Bol · Remote · 3–4 days a week to start, growing as the role does

We're a Dutch e-commerce business selling on the Bol marketplace, and we're growing fast. A big part of that growth comes down to one hard question, asked over and over: what should we launch next, and what should we leave alone?
Most people get this wrong. They chase trends, ignore the margin, and miss the products that quietly print money.
We're looking for the person who gets it right more often than not.

This isn't a research-assistant job.
You won't be filling in sheets someone else acts on.
You'll be the one finding the opportunities, weighing them honestly, and putting your name to a recommendation.
You'd work directly with me, the founder, alongside our data analyst and purchasing team.
You bring the thinking, we d ---------- together, and you watch your calls play out in the business.

What you'd be doing
There are three sides to this role.

Finding new products to launch. This is the heart of the job. We aim to launch around five new product keywords a month (each one usually having 2-3 SKUs).
You'd hunt for those opportunities, run them through clear criteria, and bring me a short, well-argued case for each one worth pursuing.
You'd also check the sourcing data our purchasing team gathers, so we're confident the numbers behind a launch actually hold up.

Growing what we already sell.
Looking at our existing products and finding ways to do better, a smart addition to a product family, a sharper price, better quality, a stronger look.
You'd spot where we can extend or improve an offer and make the case for it.

Trends and seasonality.
Keeping an eye on where the market's heading, and working closely with our data analyst to flag seasonal swings before they hit, Q4 build-ups, summer or winter spikes on certain SKUs, and which categories are growing or shrinking year on year.
Your job is to make sure we're never caught off guard on timing.

How we think about a good product
We have criteria, and part of your job is to apply them sharply: enough demand to be worth it, competition we can realistically beat, and margin that still works after all marketplace costs and sourcing. Those are the filters.
The judgment, which of the products that clear those filters is actually worth launching, is the part we're hiring you for.
We can teach you our thresholds.
We can't teach instinct, so that's what we'll be looking for, and we'll know quickly whether you have it.

Who we're hoping to find
Real e-commerce and marketplace research experience. (at least 3 years / preferably 5+)
You've done product research for an online business before, ideally on a marketplace like Bol, Amazon, or similar marketplaces.
You understand how demand, competition, reviews, pricing, and fulfilment costs come together to make a product win or lose.
Judgment that's been proven, not just claimed.
Anyone can pull numbers and call something "trending." We need someone who looks at a category and knows which gap is a real opportunity and which is a trap that'll cost us money.
If you've actually launched or recommended products that worked, that's what we want to hear about.

Comfortable with the tools.
Bol's own data, marketplace research tools (Helium 10, Keepa, or similar specific for Bol like Marktmentor), and AI tools for speeding up research and analysis.
If you already lean on AI to work faster and sharper, you'll fit right in.

A close collaborator.
You'll work hand in hand with our data analyst and purchasing team, so you need to communicate clearly and share what you find in a way others can act on.
Fully fluent English, happy working remotely with a few hours of daily overlap with European time.

What you get out of it
-Real ownership. You're not a research assistant filling sheets, you own product discovery and shape what we launch. Your work is visible in the business fast.

-A direct line to the founder. You bring the opportunities, we d ---------- together, and you see your calls play out.

-Room to grow. This starts at 3–4 days a week and can grow with the company as our launch pace picks up.

-A company that invests in you. We're built on quality, in our products, our service, and the life of our team. We back that with a monthly health bonus you can put toward whatever keeps you well, gym, better sleep, whatever works for you.

-Remote, wherever you are, with just a few hours of daily overlap with European time.

-USD $15 an hour to start, with real room to move up as you prove yourself.

How to apply
Skip the long CV for now. Instead, I'd like to see how you actually work.

Pick any product category you like and find me three products you'd consider worth launching on a marketplace.

For each one, tell me briefly why, what makes you think there's a real opportunity, and what would make you nervous about it.
I'm not expecting it to match our business perfectly, I want to see how you spot and weigh an opportunity.

Then tell me a little about your background in e-commerce research, and what made you want this role specifically.

One last thing.
We're after real A-players, and A-players like to work with other A-players.
So if you've read this and thought "yes, this is me", apply. I'm looking forward to seeing what you find.
