We're a fast-growing Canadian premium e-commerce brand selling across Canada, USA, UK, Australia, and Ireland. We process high transaction volumes daily through Shopify and need someone who can keep our books clean, our HST filings accurate, and our financial reporting sharp.
This is not a data entry role. We need someone who thinks like an accountant, not just a bookkeeper.
What You'll Own:
Full-cycle bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online (Canadian version)
Monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
HST/GST tracking, reconciliation, and filing preparation
Shopify payout reconciliation via A2X integration
Accounts payable and receivable management
Monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting
Multi-currency transaction handling (CAD, USD, GBP, AUD)
Preparing clean books for our Canadian CPA at year-end
Flagging anomalies, miscategorizations, and compliance risks before they become problems
You Must Have:
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or CPA/CMA in progress
Minimum 3 years bookkeeping or accounting experience
Hands-on QuickBooks Online experience — not just familiarity
Working knowledge of Canadian IFRS accounting standards
Understanding of Canadian GST/HST rules including zero-rating for international sales
Experience with high-volume transaction environments
Strong English written communication — you'll report directly to the CEO
You'll Stand Out If You Have:
Experience with Shopify or e-commerce accounting specifically
A2X, Dext, or similar accounting middleware experience
Knowledge of Canadian CRA filing requirements and deadlines
Experience supporting Canadian small business tax preparation
Multi-currency accounting experience
What We Offer:
Fully remote, work from anywhere
Stable long-term engagement — we're not looking for a temp
Direct access to the CEO and real ownership of the finance function
Opportunity to grow as we scale into new markets
Competitive compensation based on experience
How to Apply:
Send your resume plus a short paragraph answering this question:
"A Canadian e-commerce company sells to customers in Ontario, British Columbia, and the United States. Walk me through how HST/GST applies differently across these three and how you'd set this up in QuickBooks Online."
Applications without this answer will not be reviewed.
