JOB OVERVIEW

We're looking for someone who knows accounting and will be a key voice in the direction of the software we create.

At Hutility, we build and support ERP customizations, integrations, automation, and custom software for organizations running on Sage 300 and similar platforms. We're looking for someone who's experienced in the accounting workflows we're building for: someone who can look at what the software does and know whether it makes sense for a real business.

What you'll be doing
· Review and validate ERP features, fixes, and enhancements by asking whether they make sense from an accounting perspective
· Follow transactions end-to-end across workflows like AP, AR, GL, procurement, billing, payroll, and inventory, and flag when something doesn't behave the way a real business would expect
· Work directly with developers and consultants to explain what the expected business outcome should be
· Document issues clearly: what happened, what should have happened, and why it matters
· Help the team understand the real-world impact of a bug or design decision on accounting accuracy, reporting, and day-to-day operations
· Apply structured QA practices over time: test planning, regression testing, defect tracking, etc.

You'll be a great fit if you...
· Have hands-on experience in an accounting role: AP, AR, GL, payroll, inventory, procurement, or similar
· Have used an ERP or accounting system in a real work environment (Sage, SAP, QuickBooks, NetSuite, Dynamics, Acumatica, or even Excel-heavy environments)
· Can walk a developer through what "correct" looks like for a transaction, a report, or a reconciliation
· Notice when numbers, postings, or workflows don't add up. Even when no error message fires
· Are curious about how software works and genuinely interested in learning the technical side
· Pick things up quickly and enjoy figuring things out on your own
· Communicate clearly: you can make complicated situations easy to understand

What success looks like
· Developers get clear, actionable feedback grounded in how accounting actually works
· Issues are caught before they cause incorrect postings, broken reconciliations, or problems that impact the business downstream
· The team builds more confidence that what they're shipping reflects real-world accounting logic, not just technical correctness
· You grow into owning the QA process over time, with the accounting knowledge as your foundation
· This role can branch into many career possibilities such as ERP consulting, software development, management, etc., depending on your skills and interests.
