Solar Proposal Designer — Short-Term Contract / Remote
Shift Energy Group is looking for short-term remote support to help our team with proposal work.
This is a contract position focused on creating preliminary residential solar proposals in Aurora Solar. This is not a CAD drafting role and does not involve final permit drawings, electrical single-line diagrams, engineering design, or construction-ready design work.

Shift Energy Group is a Canadian solar and energy storage EPC company based in British Columbia. We design, sell, and install solar PV and battery storage systems across Canada.
Role Overview
The Solar Proposal Designer will support our internal design and sales teams by preparing preliminary solar layouts and proposal packages in Aurora Solar. The work is intended to help our team move residential solar opportunities through the early proposal stage more quickly.
Responsibilities
- Create residential solar layouts in Aurora Solar
- Prepare preliminary proposal designs based on project information provided by Shift
- Review roof geometry, available roof space, shading, and basic project constraints
- Estimate system size, module count, and production using Aurora
- Follow Shift’s internal design standards and proposal guidelines
- Utility bill analysis
- Communicate clearly with the Shift team on questions, assumptions, and missing information
- Revise proposals as needed based on internal feedback
Ideal Candidate
- Experience using Aurora Solar
- Experience with residential rooftop solar proposal layouts
- Strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working remotely
- Able to follow internal standards and instructions
- Good written communication in English
- Able to work independently and meet deadlines
Nice to Have
- Experience with Canadian or North American residential solar projects
- Familiarity with roof setbacks, obstructions, shading, and production modelling
- Basic understanding of solar modules, inverters, and system sizing
Contract Details
- Short-term contract role
- Remote position
- Flexible hours, but some overlap with Pacific Time is preferred
- Compensation is negotiable based on experience
- Start date: as soon as possible
