We are a US-based startup entertainment studio, and we’re looking for a highly skilled, expert-level 2D Animator (ideally moho, but open to adobe animate, toonboom, spine, etc). This is a YouTube project with videos focused on immersive storytelling and world-building documentaries. The style of artwork is Anime and while I know we can't reach the level of quality for something like Netflix's Castlevania, that is the target to emulate as best as we can while still moving fast.
About the Project
We are creating an original IP brand, using a Japanese Anime art-style for a world of mythical creatures. It’s a dark fantasy set in Victorian England. The brand is like Pokemon meets Stranger Things. We are launching this universe through a new YouTube channel focused on high-quality animated storytelling.
While the YouTube channel is our starting point, our vision is massive. You will be getting in on the ground floor of a transmedia franchise that will eventually expand into trading card games (TCGs), board games, books, art toys, and more. Though the channel is brand new, it is backed by an experienced entrepreneur with a proven track record of building successful, profitable brands from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to serve as the foundational animator for a growing universe, bringing its creatures and lore to life from day one!
What You’ll Do
• Rig & Animate: Take finalized 2D anime-style character assets and environments and bring them to life using advanced 2D animation techniques. Videos will be probably about 50% character movement & 50?mera movement.
• Master a Hybrid Workflow: You will handle the bulk of the animation in Adobe (or the chosen software), but we might look into integrating AI tools like Seedance to animate the more complex scenes to maximize both efficiency and visual impact. Plus we will use AI for background and prop creation.
• Produce High-Quality Content: Animate engaging 10 to 15-minute videos using ready-made scripts, voiceovers, and provided art.
• Collaborate Globally: Work closely with our founder and an international remote team of character artists to ensure readability, pacing, and stylistic consistency.
What We’re Looking For
• 2D Expertise: Proven, expert-level experience in one: Moho, Adobe Animate, ToonBoom, Spine 2D, etc.
• AI Adaptability: A willingness to embrace and experiment with AI animation tools (like Seedance) to tackle challenging sequences.
• Pure Animation Focus: A strong portfolio showcasing your ability to take provided 2D anime-style assets and create expressive, cinematic animations. (No concept art or character design is required for this role).
• Cinematic Eye: A strong sense of rhythm, staging, camera movement, and smooth motion to keep long-form videos visually engaging.
• Vision & Adaptability: The ability to take creative direction and maintain a consistent animation style across multiple videos.
• Professionalism: Organized, responsible, and deadline-oriented.
• English Language Fluency: Must have conversational level English speaking (to understand feedback)
