JOB OVERVIEW

Position Overview:

Seeking an experienced licensed private investigator or digital investigator to assist with lawful collection, preservation, organization, and documentation of publicly available and legally obtainable online evidence related to an active civil litigation matter involving alleged defamation, reputational harm, and related claims.

Objective:

The investigator’s primary objective is to identify, preserve, authenticate, organize, and document online evidence which may be relevant to establishing:

• Publication of allegedly defamatory statements
• Dates, timelines, and dissemination patterns
• Identity verification of account ownership where legally permissible
• Patterns of conduct, communications, coordination, or repetition
• Publicly available statements, posts, comments, videos, images, and related metadata
• Preservation of evidence that may later be altered or deleted
• Identification of additional discoverable evidence sources

Scope of Work:

• Conduct lawful social media investigations across publicly accessible platforms
• Capture screenshots, archives, timestamps, URLs, metadata, and preservation records
• Produce evidence logs with source documentation and collection methodology
• Create chronological timelines connecting posts, accounts, dates, and interactions
• Document chain of custody and collection procedures suitable for litigation support
• Identify potential witnesses, corroborating accounts, or related public activity
• Prepare clear investigative reports suitable for attorney review or court proceedings
• Assist with locating deleted, modified, or archived public content when legally permissible

Required Qualifications:

• Licensed private investigator where required by law
• Experience supporting civil litigation, defamation matters, family law, or digital investigations preferred
• Understanding of evidence preservation and chain of custody
• Familiarity with social media investigations and open-source intelligence techniques
• Ability to testify if required

Important Restrictions:

Investigator must comply with all applicable laws and ethical obligations. No unauthorized account access, hacking, impersonation, pretexting where prohibited, unlawful surveillance, or improper access methods are authorized.
