JOB OVERVIEW

River Edge Advisors provides outsourced accounting and financial services to clients across a variety of industries. We are seeking an accountant with strong AppFolio experience to support our real estate clients.
This role includes both ongoing property accounting and project-based cleanup work. The ideal candidate can research accounting issues, complete complex reconciliations, resolve historical discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records through the monthly close and reporting process.
Responsibilities
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements
• Reconcile bank, trust, mortgage, escrow, and other balance sheet accounts
• Review tenant, owner, and security deposit balances
• Record deposits to tenant ledgers and research unapplied deposits
• Prepare and review insurance and real estate tax accruals, prepaid entries, and related amortization schedules
• Analyze general ledger activity and prepare adjusting entries
• Perform month-end and year-end accounting procedures
• Work with clients and internal tea ---------- mbers to resolve accounting issues
• Assist with accounting cleanup projects, historical corrections, and property onboarding or transition-related issues. Examples of issues you may investigate include Triple Tie-Out discrepancies, security deposit reconciliations, mortgage and escrow discrepancies, trust account reconciliations, owner statement issues, tenant ledger discrepancies, GL mapping issues, intercompany balances, and other accounting discrepancies within AppFolio.
Experience That Will Help You Succeed
• Significant hands-on AppFolio experience, including reconciliations, financial statement review, and accounting issue resolution
• Experience researching and resolving accounting issues independently
• Experience with real estate accounting and accrual-based accounting
Skills
• Strong accounting knowledge and Excel skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal English communication

Important
This is not an entry-level bookkeeping or data-entry position. Successful candidates should be comfortable taking ownership of accounting issues, researching root causes, and driving problems through to resolution within AppFolio.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required, and a CPA or relevant certification is a plus. Please note that the hours are 9AM-5:30PM EST Graveyard shift
