We are a Modern Publishing Company looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Full-Time Book Editor / Copy Editor who can edit Taglish and English business, self-help, motivational, educational, and practical guide books for Filipino readers.
The ideal candidate must be able to improve grammar, clarity, sentence flow, readability, structure, and overall manuscript quality while preserving the author’s original voice, message, and intended impact.
This role is not limited to correcting grammar. We need someone who can make each manuscript clearer, stronger, more engaging, more creative, and easier to understand for the target market — without making the writing sound too formal, boring, or academic.
Responsibilities
• Edit manuscripts for grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and flow
• Improve readability, sentence structure, consistency, and overall writing quality
• Identify repeated ideas, weak paragraphs, confusing sections, and awkward wording
• Strengthen the manuscript in a creative, reader-friendly, and market-appropriate way
• Maintain a natural, relatable, and Filipino-friendly Taglish or English tone
• Preserve the author’s voice while improving the quality of the manuscript
• Review basic book structure, including chapters, table of contents, preface, introduction, and other front matter
• Provide editorial notes, comments, or suggestions when needed
• Submit both the clean edited file and the file with Track Changes
• Meet agreed deadlines without sacrificing quality
Qualifications
• Experience writing and editing books, ebooks, manuscripts, or long-form content (non-fiction)
• Knowledgeable in basic book structure, including chapter arrangement, table of contents, preface, introduction, and related sections
• Strong grammar, proofreading, and editing skills
• Can edit both Taglish and English content naturally and professionally
• Understands Filipino readers and mass-market writing style
• Can improve manuscripts using a modern, creative, and engaging writing approach
• Detail-oriented, organized, and deadline-driven
• Can follow instructions and work independently
• Open to feedback and revisions
Preferred Experience
Experience editing business, self-help, motivational, educational, Filipino/Taglish, or practical guide books is required.
We prefer someone with a modern and creative editing style, not overly academic, stiff, or boring.
Required Output Per Manuscript
• Edited file with Track Changes
• Clean edited version
• Short editorial notes
• List of major concerns, if any
Skills Test
Shortlisted applicants will be given a short editing test to assess grammar, clarity, flow, creativity, attention to detail, book structure awareness, and ability to preserve the author’s voice.
The test will be used strictly for skills assessment purposes only.
