Job Overview
HARON Ltd is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Accountant to support a UK-based client on a long-term, full-time basis. This role focuses on day-to-day UK bookkeeping, VAT preparation, and management reporting, ensuring accurate and compliant financial records.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with UK accounting processes, is confident working independently in a remote setup, and can provide clear, timely financial information to support management decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records using Xero
- Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Prepare and submit quarterly UK VAT returns (CT600)
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and payment tracking
- Track expenses, budgets, and cash flow to support financial planning
- Assist with year-end preparation and coordination with external accountants
- Support HMRC compliance by ensuring records are complete and audit-ready
- Improve and maintain internal accounting processes and controls
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- At least 1.5 years of hands-on UK accounting experience (required)
- Strong working knowledge of:
- UK bookkeeping practices
- VAT preparation and submissions
- Financial statement preparation
- Proficiency in Xero (required)
- Experience using TaxCalc or similar UK tax software is an advantage
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment
- Provide clear financial summaries and insights to management when required
Nice to Have (but not required)
- Experience supporting UK-based SMEs
- Exposure to payroll coordination (not primary responsibility)
- Familiarity with Google Sheets and cloud-based workflows
