Position: Residential Interior & Exterior Finishes Designer (Full-Time Remote)
Company: Southern Cities Construction — North Carolina, USA (NC GC License #107724)
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hrs/week | Mon–Fri | [your hours] PHT with 3–4 hr US Eastern overlap
Setup: 100% Remote | Direct Hire (No Agency) | Long-Term Position
ABOUT US
Southern Cities Construction is a licensed North Carolina General Contractor serving real estate investors across the state. We hire directly — not through an agency — and we are building a long-term remote team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop complete interior finish schedules for US residential remodels and flips — paint, flooring, cabinets, countertops, tile, plumbing fixtures, lighting, hardware, trim, doors
- Develop complete exterior finish schedules — siding, roofing, paint, trim, doors, windows, garage doors, hardware, basic landscaping
- Build branded mood boards and design boards (room-by-room) for client approval
- Spec finishes in tiered packages aligned to project budget: Entry / Standard / Premium
- Source materials from US-availability brands (Home Depot, Lowe's, Floor & Decor, MSI, Wayfair, etc.)
- Stay current on US Southeast buyer preferences and design trends
- Coordinate with our estimator to confirm finish selections fit project budgets
- Coordinate with our drafter to ensure plan-level changes match finish decisions
- Maintain a library of branded SCC finish-package templates
- Turn around quick-hit finish boards within 5–7 days
- Turn around full project finish schedules within 10–14 days
REQUIRED
- 3+ years residential interior design experience including FINISH SELECTION (please send sample finish boards)
- Strong portfolio of completed interior finish schedules
- Working knowledge of exterior residential finishes (siding, roofing, paint systems)
- Proficiency with mood-board tools (Canva, Photoshop, InDesign, or similar)
- Proficiency with at least one 3D visualization tool (SketchUp, Lumion, Chief Architect, Rendr)
- Familiarity with US residential material brands and price points
- Budget discipline — flip finishes are NOT luxury custom finishes
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Fast turnaround discipline
NICE TO HAVE
- US residential flip / investor project experience
- Knowledge of US Southeast buyer preferences
- Familiarity with HGTV-style flip aesthetics
- Working knowledge of Sherwin-Williams / Behr / Benjamin Moore color systems
- Working knowledge of LVP, engineered hardwood, and tile brands at US big-box retailers
- Photo-based design experience (working from listing photos and remote measurements)
- Realtor or staging background
