The Role

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Finance Analyst to join us on a freelance basis, working remotely. You’ll work closely with our UK-based finance team, supporting day-to-day finance operations, month-end close, and management reporting.

This role is a mix of hands-on transactional finance and analytical work. You’ll help keep our books accurate, process invoices and payments, support month-end journals and reconciliations, and pull together reports that help leadership make better decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Month-End & Management Accounting
• Support the month-end close, including journals, accruals, and prepayments.
• Carry out balance sheet reconciliations and resolve queries in a timely way.
• Maintain accurate records in Xero and keep the chart of accounts tidy.
• Assist with year-end audit preparation when required.

Reporting & Analysis
• Help prepare monthly management reports, including P&L, variance commentary, and KPI tracking.
• Build and maintain Excel/Google Sheets trackers to monitor revenue, costs, and cash.
• Flag trends, anomalies, or risks to the wider finance team.

Accounts Payable & Receivable
• Process supplier invoices accurately and on time in Xero.
• Prepare payment runs and reconcile supplier statements.
• Raise sales invoices and support credit control / chasing overdue payments.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and expense claims.

General Finance Support
• Respond to internal finance queries from across the business.
• Help document and improve finance processes and SOPs.
• Support ad hoc projects as the finance function grows.

Essential Skills & Experience
• 2-4 years’ experience in a finance role covering management accounts, AP/AR, and reporting.
• Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills – confident with formulas, pivot tables, and lookups.
• Fluent written and spoken English, with the confidence to communicate clearly with a UK-based team.
• Accurate, organised, and able to manage your own workload to deadlines.
• Comfortable working UK hours and fully remotely.

Desired Skills & Attributes
• Hands-on experience with Xero
• Experience working with a UK-based business or international finance team.
• Exposure to media, digital, or creative industries.
• Familiarity with reporting tools (e.g. Looker Studio, Power BI) or AI tools for finance workflows.
