We're growing, and we need a sharp, reliable, and proactive Accountant / Admin Officer to join us remotely and help keep the business running smoothly behind the scenes.
What You'll Be Doing
- Processing payroll accurately and on time in line with New Zealand employment requirements
- Managing accounts receivable and accounts payable — invoicing, reconciliations, chasing payments, and processing bills
- Calling customers to follow up on outstanding invoices, confirm details, or assist with account queries (confident and professional phone manner required)
- Researching supplier and subcontractor pricing, tracking our expenses, and providing useful insights and recommendations to leadership
- Producing clear daily, weekly, and monthly financial and operational reports to help the directors stay on top of business health
- Assisting with general business administration tasks as needed — data entry, document formatting, scheduling support, and more
- Keeping our books accurate, tidy, and audit-ready at all times

What We're Looking For
Must-Haves:
? Solid, hands-on experience with MYOB and/or Xero accounting software
? Strong working knowledge of New Zealand and/or Australian accounting and tax systems (GST, PAYE, payroll compliance)
? Proven experience processing payroll end-to-end
? Experience handling both AR and AP in a small-to-medium business environment
? Comfortable and confident communicating with customers by phone and
? Strong analytical mindset — able to research costs, spot trends, and present findings clearly
? Able to produce organised, accurate business reports on a regular cadence
? Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
? Reliable internet connection and a suitable home office setup
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with NZ or Australian construction, trades, or infrastructure businesses
- Familiarity with project-based invoicing or job costing
- Experience using job management or scheduling software
