JOB OVERVIEW

About the Role

I’m launching a new YouTube channel and looking for a sharp, organized production assistant who understands YouTube and can help across the full production process.

This is not a basic admin VA role. I’m looking for someone who is genuinely interested in YouTube, understands what makes videos perform, and can help with research, scripts, video review, production coordination, and general channel operations.

The first channel will focus on educational / knowledge-based long-form videos. If the working relationship goes well, this could expand into more channels and more responsibility over time.

Responsibilities

• Research video topics, stories, facts, sources, examples, and references
• Help organize research into clear outlines for YouTube scripts
• Review scripts for clarity, accuracy, pacing, and viewer retention
• Watch draft edits and give timestamped notes on pacing, visuals, mistakes, and improvements
• Help create briefs for editors, thumbnail designers, and other freelancers
• Track video progress from idea to script to edit to upload
• Find comparable YouTube videos and analyze titles, thumbnails, hooks, structure, and performance
• Help maintain a simple content calendar and production tracker
• Assist with uploading, descriptions, titles, thumbnails, and basic channel organization when needed
• Help me keep the production process moving without things slipping through the cracks

Who I’m Looking For

You should be:

• Interested in YouTube and online video
• Strong in English reading and writing
• Good at research and fact-checking
• Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
• Comfortable using Google Docs, Google Sheets, Slack/ ---------- , and project trackers
• Able to give honest, useful notes on scripts and videos
• Comfortable working with AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude, but not dependent on them
• Proactive enough to spot problems before I have to ask

Nice to Have

• Experience working for a YouTube channel
• Experience with long-form educational, documentary, explainer, finance, history, business, or science content
• Basic understanding of YouTube retention, hooks, titles, thumbnails, and pacing
• Experience managing editors, writers, or production workflows
• Basic Canva, CapCut, Premiere, or thumbnail/video editing knowledge

I need someone who can think, research, organize, and help improve the quality and speed of production.

How to Apply

Please send:

1. A short intro about yourself
2. Your YouTube-related experience, if any
3. Your expected hourly rate
