ABOUT US
Industrial Electronic Systems, Inc. (IES) is a U.S.-based fire alarm and life safety company serving commercial clients across Northern California. We design, install, and integrate fire alarm and low voltage systems for real construction projects — hospitals, office buildings, warehouses, and more.
We're a small, technical team and we take our work seriously. When you work with IES, your drawings go straight into active construction projects.
THE ENGAGEMENT
We're looking for a full-time independent contractor to provide Remote BIM Coordination support to our U.S. engineering team on an ongoing basis. The core of this contract is BIM coordination and clash detection — you'll be working inside live Revit models, identifying and resolving clashes between fire alarm/low voltage systems and other trades (mechanical, structural, electrical).
This is a hands-on technical contract. Deliverables go directly into active U.S. commercial construction projects.
SCOPE OF WORK
BIM Coordination (Primary Focus)
Run clash detection between MEP, fire alarm, and structural models
Resolve clashes and coordinate solutions with the IES engineering team
Maintain and update Revit models for fire alarm and low voltage systems
Produce coordination drawings and clash reports for project teams
CAD Drafting & Documentation
Draft 2D construction drawings in AutoCAD — device layouts, riser diagrams, wiring details, and submittal sets
Set up sheets, title blocks, viewports, layers, and XREFs to IES standards
Update drawings based on field markups and design changes
Design Support
Assist with NFPA-compliant fire alarm device layout (spacing, coverage, strobe placement)
Support design of access control, intrusion, and structured cabling systems
Review architectural and electrical drawings to catch coordination issues early
Research & Problem Solving
Research NFPA 72, NEC, and local AHJ code requirements
Flag missing information in plans before they turn into RFIs
Document findings clearly and communicate impacts to the IES engineering team
