Architectural Precast Estimator & Detailer
Position Summary
The Architectural Precast Estimator & Detailer is responsible for reviewing construction documents, performing quantity takeoffs, preparing project estimates and proposals, and producing detailed drafting and shop drawings for architectural precast, GFRC, UHPC, and custom concrete projects. This role works closely with contractors, architects, engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to support preconstruction and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and material calculations using PlanSwift and related estimating software
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals
- Generate and coordinate shop drawings, fabrication details, and layout drawings
- Create CAD drafting and detailing packages for production and installation
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal teams regarding design and technical requirements
- Assist with project development, lead follow-up, and client communication
- Identify scope gaps, RFIs, and potential value engineering opportunities
- Support production and field teams with drawing revisions and technical clarification
- Maintain organized project files, estimates, revisions, and correspondence
- Assist with scheduling and preconstruction coordination
Qualifications
- Experience in precast concrete, GFRC, UHPC, stone, or construction estimating/detailing
- Proficiency in PlanSwift for digital takeoffs and estimating
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar drafting/estimating software
- Strong understanding of construction methods and materials
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Knowledge of fabrication and installation processes is preferred
Preferred Skills
- Experience with architectural precast systems and custom concrete fabrication
- Knowledge of shop drawing standards and production detailing
- Understanding of estimating software and bid preparation
- Ability to coordinate directly with clients and project teams
- Strong problem-solving and technical coordination abilities
