JOB OVERVIEW

Summary
We are a US-based digital marketing and revenue operations agency that manages SEO, content, and web optimization across a portfolio of seven active clients spanning e-commerce, legal, travel, healthcare, retail, landscaping, and nonprofit.

We are hiring a Technical SEO & GEO Specialist to own organic search performance across this portfolio. You will not be publishing blog posts or scheduling social media. You will be the person who diagnoses why a site is underperforming, builds the optimization roadmap, and directs our execution team on exactly what to fix. You will work directly with the founder — not a middle manager — on strategy, audits, and client priorities.

This role starts part-time (10–20 hours/week) and has a clear path to full-time if performance is strong during the initial evaluation period. We are building a team, not filling a temporary gap.

This role exists because search is changing. AI-driven search experiences are reshaping how businesses get found, and we need someone who understands both traditional technical SEO and generative engine optimization well enough to keep our clients visible as that shift accelerates. If you are tired of execution-only roles and want to own SEO outcomes across a real, revenue-generating client portfolio, this is built for you.

What You Will Own
Technical SEO Strategy & Audits
— Perform comprehensive technical SEO audits for existing and net-new clients using our audit framework, and contribute improvements to the framework over time
— Diagnose crawl, indexation, rendering, and structured data issues using Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, or equivalent tools
— Develop and prioritize optimization roadmaps based on audit findings, search data, and business impact
— Review and improve site architecture, internal linking strategies, URL structures, and crawl efficiency
— Audit and implement schema markup (FAQ, LocalBusiness, Article, HowTo, etc.) across client sites
On-Page & Content Optimization Direction
— Define on-page optimization requirements for blog posts, service pages, and location pages (meta titles, descriptions, heading structure, keyword targeting, internal links)
— Create clear, actionable optimization briefs that the execution team can implement without ambiguity
— Review published content for SEO quality and flag issues before they compound
— Guide keyword targeting and content gap analysis to inform the editorial calendar
GEO / Generative Engine Optimization
— Optimize client content for visibility in AI-generated search results, featured snippets, and answer engine experiences
— Structure content to satisfy entity-based search, question-intent queries, and knowledge graph signals
— Stay current on how Google SGE, Bing Copilot, Perplexity, and ChatGPT Search surface and cite content, and adapt strategies accordingly
— Implement and refine structured data to improve content eligibility for rich results and AI citations
Reporting & Founder Collaboration
— Track key SEO metrics (rankings, organic traffic, indexation, CTR, featured snippet capture) and report on progress
— Join weekly or biweekly syncs with the founder to discuss strategy, audit findings, and client priorities
— Document recurring SEO processes and build lightweight SOPs as workflows stabilize

What This Role Is Not
— Not a blog-writing or content-creation role (we have writers and an execution team for that)
— Not a general virtual assistant or admin role
— Not client-facing account management
— Not social media management or graphic design
— Not WordPress development or plugin/theme coding

Tools You Will Use
Training provided for any tools you have not used before, but you must be proficient in the core SEO toolset.

— Google Search Console (required)
— Ahrefs or SEMrush (required — Ahrefs preferred)
— WordPress with Rank Math (required)
— Google Analytics / GA4 (required)
— Screaming Frog or similar crawler (strongly preferred)
— Google Sheets / Docs / Drive (required)
— Schema markup generators or manual JSON-LD (required)
— Slack (daily communication)
— Asana (task management tool familiarity — Asana preferred)

Must-Haves
— Minimum 2 years of hands-on technical SEO experience (not just content SEO or on-page basics)
— Demonstrated ability to run a technical SEO audit end-to-end and produce actionable findings
— Strong understanding of site architecture, crawl budget, indexation, Core Web Vitals, and structured data
— Working knowledge of GEO / generative engine optimization concepts and how AI search is evolving
— Experience with schema markup implementation (JSON-LD preferred)
— Proficiency with Ahrefs or SEMrush for keyword research, backlink analysis, and site audits
— Strong WordPress experience, including Rank Math configuration
— Ability to write clear optimization briefs and technical recommendations that a non-technical executor can follow
— Strong written English — communication is critical in this role
— Available Monday–Friday with at least 3 hours of overlap with US Eastern 9 AM–12 PM
— Detail-oriented — we serve professional services clients (lawyers, healthcare) where errors are a serious problem
— Reliable internet connection with a backup plan

Nice-to-Haves (Not Required, But You Will Stand Out)
— Experience with local SEO (Google Business Profile optimization, citation building, local pack strategy)
— Familiarity with log file analysis for crawl diagnostics
— Experience managing or directing junior SEO executors
— Background in agency environments or managing SEO across multiple client accounts simultaneously
— Understanding of programmatic SEO or template-based page optimization
— Experience with Ahrefs Brand Radar or AI visibility monitoring tools
— Familiarity with NLP-driven content optimization tools (Surfer, Clearscope, Frase, or similar)

Hours & Working Style
— Starts part-time: 10–20 hours per week, with a clear path to full-time based on performance during the evaluation period
— Long-term engagement — we are building a team, not filling a one-off project
— Consistent weekly availability preferred over sporadic large blocks
— At least 3 hours daily overlap with US Eastern 9 AM–12 PM for real-time collaboration
— Clear, proactive communication matters more than total hours logged
— You will work alongside our execution VA (WordPress, publishing, formatting) and the founder (strategy, client relationships)

What We Offer
We treat contractors like tea ---------- mbers. After a 90-day evaluation period, you become eligible for the following perks with graduation into full-time status:

— Prorated 13th Month Payment — Paid in December or at year-end close, prorated based on months actively engaged after eligibility.
— Paid Time Off — 40 hours (5 days) of PTO upon successful completion of the 90-day evaluation period. After one full year of engagement, this increases to 80 hours (10 days) annually.
— Sick / Emergency Time — Reasonable notice required. Specific terms defined during onboarding.
— Remote Work Allowance — $25 to $50 USD/month to support your internet, power, and workspace costs. Exact amount confirmed in writing based on performance and continued engagement.
— Recognized Holidays — Blended Philippine and US holiday calendar agreed upon during onboarding.
— Performance Bonus — Discretionary and based on quality, reliability, output, client impact, and role-specific KPIs.
— Full-Time Conversion — Strong performers during the evaluation period will be offered a transition to full-time hours with expanded scope and responsibilities.

90-Day Evaluation Period: The first 90 days are a mutual evaluation period. During this time, we assess reliability, work quality, turnaround time, communication, attention to detail, and tool adoption. Contractor perks and full-time consideration begin after successful completion of this period.

How to Apply
Please start your proposal with the word OPTIMIZE so we know you read the full post.

In your proposal, please answer the following:

1. Describe a technical SEO issue you identified during an audit and how you resolved it.
2. What is one thing most SEOs get wrong about optimizing for AI-driven search (GEO/AEO) in 2026?
3. Are you comfortable in a role where you own strategy recommendations but the founder makes final decisions on direction?

If you have a portfolio, audit sample, or case study showing SEO results you contributed to, please include it.
