Senior Accountant / Tax Accountant / Bookkeeper
Remote | Canadian Accounting Experience | Full-time

Role Overview
We’re looking for a motivated accounting professional with Canadian accounting experience who wants to grow with the firm.
This role may be a fit if you come from one of these backgrounds:
1. Canadian Bookkeeper / Senior Bookkeeper
You have strong full-cycle bookkeeping, month-end close, QBO/Xero, and client accounting experience, and you’re willing to learn Canadian tax.
2. Canadian Tax Accountant / Tax Preparer
You already have Canadian tax exposure, such as personal tax, corporate tax, GST/HST, or year-end filings, and want to deepen your tax skills further.
4. Big 4 / Audit / Public Accounting Background
You may not have deep bookkeeping or tax experience yet, but you have strong accounting fundamentals, review discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to learn both bookkeeping and tax workflows quickly.
The ideal person is accurate, detail-oriented, coachable, and comfortable working in a remote accounting firm environment.
Key Responsibilities
You may be involved in some or all of the following, depending on your background and training path:
Perform accurate and timely bookkeeping, including A/P, A/R, GL, bank feeds, credit card feeds, and reconciliations
Handle full-cycle bookkeeping and month-end close using QuickBooks Online or Xero
Assist in preparing year-end financial statements and working papers
Support the preparation of Canadian personal tax returns, corporate tax returns, and GST/HST filings
Review client files for errors, discrepancies, missing information, or unusual transactions
Communicate with clients to gather documents, clarify transactions, explain variances, and provide basic accounting/tax planning support
Help maintain clean, organized, and well-documented client files
Support automation, cloud accounting tools, and process improvements
Coach junior tea
Communicate clearly in a remote, asynchronous work environment
Qualifications
Must Have
Experience in Canadian accounting, bookkeeping, tax, audit, or public accounting
At least 3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, tax, audit, or finance-related experience
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors, discrepancies, and missing information
Comfortable working with numbers, reconciliations, reports, and client financial data
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to explain financial information in simple, plain English
Good time management skills and ability to handle multiple client files or deadlines
High ethical standards and commitment to client confidentiality
Willingness to learn and grow further in Canadian tax and cloud accounting
Strongly Preferred
3 to 5+ years of hands-on full-cycle bookkeeping and month-end close experience
Experience using QuickBooks Online or Xero
Experience preparing or supporting Canadian tax filings, including T1, T2, GST/HST, or year-end working papers
Prior experience in a Canadian accounting firm, bookkeeping firm, tax firm, or public accounting environment
CPA completed or in progress
