Children's Book Illustrator

Job Overview
We are seeking a talented Children’s Book Illustrator to create engaging, high-quality artwork for print books and digital ebooks. This role requires strong illustration and design skills, creativity, and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite products, particularly Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. The ideal candidate has experience bringing stories and educational content to life through expressive, child-friendly artwork and understands the production requirements for both print and digital publishing.
Responsibilities
• Create original illustrations and character artwork for children’s books and related publishing products
• Develop visually engaging scenes, backgrounds, and layouts that support storytelling and educational content
• Prepare artwork and layouts for both print production and digital ebook formats
• Collaborate with editors, designers, writers, and production teams to interpret creative direction
• Revise illustrations based on feedback while maintaining artistic consistency
• Organize and manage layered artwork files and production assets
• Ensure artwork meets technical specifications for publishing and distribution
Requirements
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
• Strong illustration portfolio, preferably including children’s publishing work
• Experience creating artwork for both print books and digital ebooks
• Strong understanding of composition, color, typography, and visual storytelling
• Ability to work within established styles and brand guidelines
• Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills
Preferred (Not Required)
• Experience with educational, early learning, or children’s content
• Familiarity with accessibility-friendly visual design practices
• Experience preparing print-ready and EPUB-compatible artwork
• Ability to work across multiple illustration styles
