Senior Full-Stack Developer (Contract) – Legal Tech Platform
Remote – Contract (3–6 months, potential long-term role)

About Summerall Law
Summerall Law is a technology-forward estate planning firm, based in San Francisco, California, building a new platform called Essential Estates.
Essential Estates aims to automate and simplify estate planning and trust administration while reducing legal complexity and cost for families. So our users are both attorneys and families.
The platform will eventually power estate planning services for multiple law firms.
We are a small but mighty team (3 developers, based in the Philippines and Brazil, and 1 designer) that values collaboration and close communication. We are nimble and fast. We embrace new AI tools and work closely with the founders of the company to drive excellence. We communicate in English via daily meetings & Slack.

The Role
We are seeking a senior full-stack developer to work on key user-facing features, platform initiatives, and drive the culture of AI-powered development and internal AI automation.
The role involves working across our entire stack to build and scale features for the Essential Estates platform, including document automation, workflow engines, document sharing, login feature updates, and B2B/B2C portals.

Primary Responsibilities
In this nimble team, you may lead a feature, and also help out on a number of other tasks and fixes.
The next wave of features we are working on include:
Document editing flows
Assistive AI helper bot
Recurring billing implementation
Public wiki of information about estate planning, to drive SEO & LLM awareness
As a senior developer, you will be expected to design and build major aspects of the the web experience, and drive the culture of using new AI tools.
You will collaborate with:
• existing engineering team
• product leadership
• designers
• attorneys who use the system daily

Requirements
• 5+ years experience building production web applications
• strong experience with React and Node-based backend frameworks
• experience designing backend APIs and data models
• ability to work independently in a small team environment
• strong English communication skills
• proficiency in leveraging AI and AI agents to prototype and ship code
Candidates must overlap with US Pacific afternoon working hours (at least 1pm-6pm Pacific).

Nice to Have
Experience with:
• document generation systems
• templating engines
• workflow automation systems
• legal technology platforms
• A theory for building AI agents and a proven record of using technology to automate other businesses.

Contract Details
Initial contract: 3–6 months
Possible extension or long-term role depending on project needs.
