JOB OVERVIEW

Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Video Editor for our YouTube channel. This is not an entry-level role. You must instinctively understand long-form storytelling, viewer retention, motion graphics, and what keeps a viewer watching for 5 to 15 minutes at a time. We provide detailed scripts and brand guidelines. If you struggle to follow them, lack proven motion graphics experience, or do not have a portfolio of long-form YouTube content WITH motion graphics, please DO NOT apply.

Responsibilities
- Edit long-form YouTube content using DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, After Effects, or equivalent professional software. After Effects experience is strongly preferred for motion graphics work.
- You must thoroughly study and execute our provided brand guidelines and motion graphics standards before incorporating any of your own editing styles. This is the single most critical requirement of this position. We have a highly specific aesthetic, and failing to follow these guidelines, or repeatedly applying your own unapproved style, will result in immediate termination.
- Trim out the mistakes, retakes, and unnecessary silent parts from raw footage, while preserving natural pacing and intentional pauses that fit long-form content.
- Layer in B-roll, supporting visuals, and motion graphics at the right beats so the visuals reinforce the script.
- Build consistent motion graphics across every video in the same production cycle: lower-thirds, callouts, transitions, comparison cards, and section title cards must match across uploads. Consistency is the bar.
- Mix audio to a professional standard. Voice on top, music ducked under voiceover, all music from a licensed library we provide.
- Mark chapter timestamps in the project so we can paste them into the YouTube description.
- Optimize videos strictly for YouTube long-form (16:9 horizontal, chapter structure, retention-friendly pacing).
- Study our YouTube channel uploads to deeply understand and replicate our specific visual style before editing.

Requirements
- Proven Experience: Must have a portfolio of long-form video work, preferably tech, product, or commentary content. Motion graphics samples required.
- Motion Graphics Specialization: After Effects competence is required, not optional. Show motion graphics work in your portfolio.
- Communication: Fast response times and reliable communication during working hours are non-negotiable.
- Availability: Monday through Friday, at least a few hours a day.
- Pay Structure: Starting pay is $35 per completed video, with raises based on performance, motion graphics quality, and consistency. You are paid only for approved videos. If a video is denied because it ignores our instructions or misses the mark on our style, you will not be paid for it.
- Work hours: You can work your own hours but you have to submit the videos on their due dates as required. You will have plenty of time to finish the videos before they are due. If you cannot submit a video in time, you can simply let us know.

Test Project (Pass/Fail)
- To be considered, you must complete a short test project to prove your technical skills, attention to detail, and motion graphics judgment.
- You will receive raw clips, a script segment, and a reference video from us.
- Recreate or extend the segment matching our exact visual style, motion graphics treatment, pacing, and audio mix.
- Strict Export Settings: Deliver in horizontal format (16:9), 3840x2160 (4K) at 60fps. Export using HEVC / H.265 compression and upload in QuickTime / .mov format. Failing to use these exact export settings will result in automatic disqualification.
