JOB OVERVIEW

# Overview

We need help setting up a reliable, low-risk cloud file migration and update workflow.

The primary goal is data integrity.
Convenience and usability matter, but never at the expense of correctness or safety.

MEGA will be the canonical storage. Google Drive will be used as a working copy.

The core task is to configure a safe, one-way update process (Google Drive -> MEGA) where existing files are updated in place only.

This is a one-time setup, not a bidirectional sync role.

# What Success Looks Like

Files are updated in place, never deleted or recreated
Creation dates and file integrity are preserved
Updates behave predictably every time
After handoff, the system can be run safely by a non-technical user

# Scope of Work

Configure one-way updates from Google Drive -> MEGA
Configure a one-way migration from OneDrive -> Google Drive
(to export and consolidate critical files/documents/media)
Run test updates to confirm safe, predictable behavior

# Important Constraints

No bidirectional sync
No mirror or “make identical” modes
No delete or cleanup actions
Files must be overwritten in place only
Creation date metadata in MEGA must remain unchanged

# Deliverables

A working, tested migration/update setup
Clear handover materials so the system can be run and managed by a non-technical user after completion without assistance
(written steps, screenshots, or a short walkthrough video)
If CLI tools are used, instructions must be explicit, step-by-step, and unambiguous

GUI-based solutions are preferred where appropriate.

# Experience Needed

Cloud file migrations or cloud-to-cloud transfers
Familiarity with tools such as rclone, Cyberduck, Air Explorer, or similar
Strong understanding of overwrite vs delete/recreate behavior
Demonstrated care around file integrity and reliability

# Project Type

One-time setup
Short engagement
No long-term maintenance expected

# Final Note

This is a reliability-first setup.
It should be straightforward for someone with the right experience, but unsafe shortcuts are not acceptable.
The scope is intentionally narrow and expected to be completed quickly by the right person with relevant experience; please reflect that in your bid.

If this feels complex or unclear, this role is likely not a fit.

Please begin your reply with a brief one-sentence summary of how you would approach this task.
