JOB OVERVIEW

Summary
We’re not your average accountancy firm. We’re Complete HQ — Renegade Accountants for Extraordinary Businesses. We don’t do beige offices, jargon-laden letters, or “computer says no” advice. We do real numbers, real conversations, and real impact for the SMEs we work with.

Now we need someone who can own the engine room.

The Role

This is a focused, specialist role. Your world is limited company year-end accounts and CT600s. Not bookkeeping. Not VAT returns. Not personal tax. Not chasing missing receipts.

You’ll take a clean trial balance and turn it into FRS 102 1A or FRS 105 statutory accounts, file them at Companies House, prepare the corporation tax computation, and submit the CT600 to HMRC. Then you’ll do it again. And again. With the kind of consistency, accuracy, and turnaround that makes clients trust us and HMRC leave us alone.

If you love the technical craft of accounts prep and corporation tax — and you want to do it without being pulled in fifteen directions — this is your job.

What You’ll Actually Do

Prepare statutory year-end accounts for UK limited companies under FRS 102 1A and FRS 105
Prepare corporation tax computations and file CT600 returns with HMRC
Handle capital allowances, R&D considerations (flagging to our specialists), loss relief, group relief where relevant, and director/shareholder tax planning touchpoints
Identify and resolve issues in client records before they become problems — and feed them back to the bookkeeping team cleanly
File accounts at Companies House and confirm successful submission
Communicate directly with clients on queries, signatures, and deadlines — clearly, commercially, and without accountant-speak
Keep WIP moving, deadlines tracked, and Debbie (our Operations Director) sane
Spot planning opportunities and flag them to the advisory team — you don’t need to deliver them, but you need to see them

What We’re Looking For
Non-negotiables:

Accoun tancy qualified (fully qualified, not part-qualified)
Minimum 4 years in a UK accounting practice environment
Demonstrable track record preparing statutory accounts and CT600s autonomously, start to finish
Confident with FRS 102 1A and FRS 105
Fluent in Xero (we’re a Xero house), and ideally TaxCalc, IRIS, or similar accounts production software
Sharp on UK corporation tax — current rates, marginal relief, associated companies rules, the lot
Genuinely good with clients — written and verbal — without being either stiff or sloppy
Be within 3 hours for GMT/BST and able to between 8 - 18.00 UK time

Nice to have:

Experience with Karbon, Xero Tax, or similar workflow/practice management tools
Exposure to R&D tax credits, EMI schemes, or group structures
A view on AI and automation in practice that isn’t either evangelical or terrified
What You Are Not
A trainee looking for sign-off
A generalist who wants variety across bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, and personal tax
Allergic to deadlines, ownership, or direct feedback

What You Get
Fully remote. Work from wherever you do your best work. We’re based in Cornwall but the team is distributed.
A focused remit. No scope creep. No “can you just look at this VAT return.”
Modern tooling. Xero-first stack, proper workflow systems, no fax machines.
A grown-up culture. No timesheets-as-surveillance, no performative busy-ness, no political nonsense.
Direct access to leadership. You’ll work closely with me (Andrew, MD), Debbie (Ops Director), and our small team, making a real difference to our clients.
Competitive salary, DOE. We pay well for people who deliver.
Pension, holiday, and the usual. Plus the unusual: time and space to actually think.

How to Apply
Send your CV and a short note — not a covering letter, a note — telling us:

The most interesting technical accounts or CT issue you’ve handled in the last 12 months, and how you resolved it
Why a focused, single-discipline remote role appeals to you right now
Anything else we should know
