JOB OVERVIEW

Location: California (Bay Area / Remote Hybrid possible)

About the Role

We are a fast-growing design-build construction company specializing in full home remodels, additions, ADUs, and new construction. We are looking for an experienced Architect / Architectural Designer who can take projects from concept to permit and support execution.

Responsibilities

* Create architectural plans using AutoCAD, Chief Architect, and SketchUp
* Develop full construction drawings (CD sets) for permits and build
* Handle design development (layout, space planning, elevations)
* Select and specify materials, finishes, and fixtures
* Coordinate with structural engineers, MEP consultants, and energy (Title 24)
* Manage permit process with California cities (plan check, corrections, resubmittals)
* Schedule and coordinate city inspections
* Work closely with project managers and field teams during construction
* Ensure all plans meet California Building Code (CBC), CalGreen, and local zoning

Requirements

* Minimum 5+ years experience working in the U.S.
* Strong experience in California (local codes, permitting, and zoning)
* Proven experience pulling permits and getting projects approved
* Proficiency in:
* AutoCAD
* Chief Architect
* SketchUp
* Experience with:
* Residential remodels, additions, ADUs, and new builds
* Strong understanding of:
* Title 24 (energy compliance)
* CalGreen
* Plan check corrections process
* Excellent communication and coordination skills

Preferred (Big Advantage)

* Experience working with design-build firms
* Familiar with cities like Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Jose, Bay Area, Los Angeles
* Ability to produce permit-ready plans quickly
* Interior and exterior design capability (not just drafting)
* Experience with client-facing meetings
