I’m looking for a detail-oriented virtual assistant to help source visual assets for a recurring series of short Instagram/TikTok reels about international filmmakers, cinema history, and film culture.
For each video, you will receive a short script about a filmmaker. Your job will be to gather relevant images, article screenshots, and YouTube video clips that match the script and can be used by an editor.
This is a research-heavy role, so I’m looking for someone who is organized, fast, accurate, and interested in film, media, history, or online content.
For each reel/script, you will source:
-5 high-resolution headshots/images of the filmmaker
These should be large, clear, and usable in a video edit. No tiny, blurry, low-quality images.
-3 relevant vertical screenshots from articles.
These should visually support the script. For example, news articles, interviews, reviews, festival pages, historical sources, or articles about the filmmaker’s work.
-5 to 8 relevant video clips from YouTube
You will provide YouTube links, timestamps, and a short note explaining why each clip is useful. These could include interviews, behind-the-scenes clips, film excerpts, archival footage, trailers, or public talks.
Organize everything clearly
-You will place all links, notes, and files into a Google Drive folder and/or tracking spreadsheet so the editor can easily use them.
You are a good fit if you:
Have strong internet research skills
Can find high-quality images and useful video clips quickly
Can follow a script and understand what visuals would support each sentence
Are organized and reliable
Have good English reading comprehension
Are interested in film, filmmakers, documentaries, history, art, or culture
Know how to use Google Drive, Google Sheets, and YouTube
Can avoid irrelevant, low-quality, or incorrect assets
Experience with editing, content creation, film research, or social media is a plus, but not required.
PAY:
Pay is $5 USD per video, with each video expected to take around one hour.
We will start with a paid test assignment. If the test goes well, the first batch will likely be 20 videos, with potential for ongoing work after that.
How to Apply
Please reply with:
A short paragraph about your research experience
Any experience you have with film, YouTube, social media, editing, or content research
Your internet speed and availability
A sample of a filmmaker, artist, or public figure you’ve researched before, if applicable
Put the phrase FILM RESEARCH VA at the top of your application so I know you read the full post
Looking for someone detail-oriented, reliable, and excited to help build a high-quality film education series.
