Coastal Water Technologies, Inc is a family-owned manufacturer and wholesale supplier operating in the field of water technologies in Florida, USA. We import/export, sell wholesale locally through multiple brick and mortar branches to trade professionals and we sell both wholesale and retail through various online platforms such as eBay, Amazon and our our website. We re-sell finished products and manufacture and build our own products for sale also. We supply to the industries of water wells, septic, water filtration, irrigation, plumbing and electrical and others. We maintain hundreds of foreign and domestic customer and supplier accounts and thousands of unique product SKUs.
Job Overview
We are seeking 1-2 persons to fill the roles of CFO and Finance Manager / Controller. We would like to hire the CFO first to establish the financial procedures our company will adopt and then have the CFO give input on the Financial Operations Manager hiring process after he/she gets familiar with our company and the complete set of duties for each role.
The CFO will be responsible for financial strategy, cash flow management, profitability analysis, and operational financial oversight, with a strong focus on inventory-driven performance and scalable growth.
Candidates must have a proven track record of at least 10+ years.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Leadership:
Develop and execute financial strategy aligned with company growth goals
Provide actionable insights on profitability, cost structure, and expansion opportunities
Advise ownership on major financial decisions, including capital allocation and investments
Cash Flow & Financial Planning:
Manage and forecast cash flow across multiple locations
Develop short- and long-term financial forecasts and budgets
Identify opportunities to improve working capital efficiency, especially in inventory
Inventory & Cost Management:
Oversee inventory accounting and ensure accurate cost of goods sold (COGS)
Analyze product-level and category-level margins
Monitor inventory turnover, dead stock, and purchasing efficiency
Implement financial controls around purchasing and inventory movement
Reporting & KPI Development:
Design and implement financial reporting systems and dashboards
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for:
Branch-level profitability
Product/category margins
Operational efficiency
Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial reporting
Banking, Financing & Capital Strategy
Manage relationships with banks and lenders
Prepare financials and projections for financing or investment opportunities
Evaluate and structure debt or equity financing as needed
Oversight of Accounting & Controller Function
Supervise controller and accounting team
Ensure clean, accurate, and timely month-end close
Establish internal controls and financial processes
Improve accounting systems and workflows (including ERP integration)
Growth & Expansion Support
Evaluate financial feasibility of new locations and expansion initiatives
Model ROI on capital expenditures and growth projects
Support operational scaling with strong financial infrastructure
Qualifications
Required:
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
Experience as a CFO, VP Finance, or senior finance leader
Strong background in inventory-based, distribution or manufacturing businesses
Deep understanding of:
Cash flow management
Financial modeling and forecasting
Inventory accounting and COGS
Proven ability to translate financial data into business decisions
Experience with Quickbooks and ERP platforms
Preferred:
Experience managing multi-location operations
The CFO will establish the roll of the Finance Manager / Controller and will create the financial system that the Controller will operate. The CFO will assist in the hiring of the Controller when they feel the time is right.
The Finance Manager / Controller will be responsible for maintaining the company's overall system of accounts, books and records on all company transactions and assets.
The Finance Manager / Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day financial transactions of the company, regular accounting reports, tax planning, reconciliation of all accounts, overseeing AR, AP, Payroll, and the work flow of all company finances.
The Finance Manager / Controller executes strategies, systems, policies and processes which will improve financial monitoring and accountability.
Expertise in financial procedures, and forward-looking mentality, will assist with financial planning for company growth and expansion.
Responsibilities of Controller:
Approve and track all financial transactions
Oversee AR/AP
Generate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and budgets
Reconcile all accounts
Lead Finance and Procurement teams
Ensure compliance with critical accounting policies
Tax planning and preparation
Work closely with CPA on tax returns
Sales tax reporting
Oversee payroll and employee benefits
Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment
Minimum 5 years experience in business accounting
Minimum 5 years experience with MS office
Experience with QuickBooks
Excellent communication skills
Advanced accounting and basic math skills
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent organization skills
Tax planning / preparation and basic understanding of tax laws
Experience with manufacturing is a plus
Experience with E-commerce is a plus
Experience with international trade is a plus
Experience with Finale Inventory Management software or similar is a plus
