JOB OVERVIEW

We're 5D Smiles — a dental implant + sleep medicine practice in Downey, California — hiring a remote Dental Billing VA who actually understands US dental billing (not just medical) and is comfortable using AI tools as part of their daily workflow.

We're not looking for a generic VA. Dental billing has its own systems (CDT codes, dental clearinghouses, downgrades, frequency limits, plan maxes) and we need someone who can live in those systems day one. If you've billed Delta, MetLife, Aetna, Cigna for crowns, root canals, perio, or implants — you're who we want.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO:
- Insurance verification (Delta Dental, MetLife, Cigna, Aetna, etc.)
- Pre-authorization / prior-auth submissions
- Claim submission via clearinghouse (DentalXchange, ClaimMD, ClaimConnect)
- AR follow-up + denial appeals (30/60/90+ day aged claims)
- Patient billing inquiries
- Sleep medicine medical-crossover claims (E0486 + G47.33 — we'll train you on this if you don't know it)
- Use AI (ChatGPT, Claude) to draft denial appeal letters, review EOBs, and prep status calls

PMS WE USE: Open Dental (experience strongly preferred but not required if you have Dentrix or Eaglesoft)

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- 2+ years US dental billing experience (NOT just medical/hospital)
- Direct experience with US payer workflows (Delta, MetLife, Cigna, Aetna, BlueCross)
- HIPAA aware
- Fluent English (written + spoken)
- AI-curious — you'll use ChatGPT/Claude every day to draft letters, review EOBs, and prep calls (we'll teach you if you haven't)
- Reliable internet, quiet workspace
- Available 40hrs/week US Pacific time

NICE TO HAVE:
- Open Dental experience (priority for these candidates)
- Sleep medicine / OAT medical-crossover claims experience (RARE skill, we pay top of band for this)
- HIPAA certification
- Denial-management specialist background

WHAT YOU'LL GET:
