JOB OVERVIEW

SEO & Content Lead — US Law Firm (Full-Time, Remote)

Schedule: Full-time, overlap with US Eastern Time required (flexible on specific hours)

Compensation based on experience.

About us
Traction Law Group is a US-based personal injury law firm focused on nursing home negligence, bedsore litigation, funeral home negligence, medical malpractice. We operate five web properties that educate injured patients and their families, and we are investing heavily in content and SEO as our primary growth channel.
We are not a marketing agency. You would work directly with the firm's owner and a small internal team on content that has real consequences for real families.

About the role
We need someone to own SEO and content strategy across our five web properties. This is not a writer-only role and it is not a keyword-research-only role. You would own the full loop from strategy to published page to measurable result.
Our current developer handles the technical build. Our owner handles firm-level strategy and video content. The gap in the middle — content planning, SEO architecture, brief writing, editorial oversight, and analytics — is what you would fill.
What you would own

Content and SEO strategy across five websites
You help d ---------- what content we build next and why. That means quarterly roadmaps, keyword research, competitive analysis, and identifying where we have the biggest opportunities to rank and convert. You bring the plan; the owner approves or adjusts.

Programmatic SEO at scale
We build state-specific and topic-specific page networks — for example, 51 state pages covering bedsore lawsuit laws. You would spec these templates, write the briefs, manage the content production, and diagnose why pages are or are not ranking. Experience building programmatic page networks that actually earned organic traffic is essential.

Editorial oversight and some high-stakes writing
You would write our cornerstone content yourself — the pieces that need legal accuracy, careful sourcing, and our specific brand voice. For volume work, you would manage freelance writers, write detailed briefs, and edit drafts to publication quality. We have strict writing rules (no em dashes, no sentence-initial "and/but/because/so," specific disclaimer requirements) that you would enforce.

Technical SEO and developer handoff
You would translate strategy into tickets our developer can execute — internal linking plans, schema markup requirements, URL structure decisions, programmatic page templates, canonical strategy. You do not need to write code, but you need to understand what you are asking for and why.

Analytics and iteration
Google Analytics, Search Console, and conversion tracking across five properties are yours. Monthly reporting that says "here is what moved, here is what did not, here is what we are changing" — not raw data dumps.

Who you are
You have built programmatic SEO before. You can point to specific projects where you built a network of location-based or topic-based pages and show the traffic they earned. If your experience is only traditional blog-post SEO, this role will not fit.
You have worked in legal, medical, financial, or another regulated industry. You understand that claims in content have compliance implications. You do not need a law degree, but you cannot be someone who treats content as purely a marketing exercise.

You write well in English — specifically American English for a US audience. We will ask for writing samples and a short paid writing test before hiring.

You are comfortable owning outcomes, not just tasks. We do not need someone who waits to be told what to do. If you see that conversion tracking is broken, you fix it or flag it. If you notice a keyword opportunity, you build the plan.
You have managed freelance writers before. Briefing, editing, giving feedback, holding quality standards — this is a meaningful part of the role.

You are fluent with SEMrush or Ahrefs, Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, and at least one CMS (we use Sanity and Payload).

Nice to have, not required

Experience with legal content specifically. Familiarity with Next.js-based sites. Experience with AI tools as part of a content workflow (we use them thoughtfully, not as a shortcut). Video or multimedia content background.

Schedule and working relationship
Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week. You set your own hours but need at least 3-4 hours of daily overlap with US Eastern Time for meetings and collaboration. Most of our communication is asynchronous through Slack, Notion, and Loom.

We have a weekly planning meeting and a monthly review.
You would report directly to the owner. There is no middle management. That means more autonomy and more accountability.

How to apply
Send the following to our inbox:

1.A short email (not a cover letter) telling us why this role fits you
2. Your CV or LinkedIn profile
3. Two or three examples of programmatic SEO projects you have worked on, with traffic or ranking data if you can share it
4. One writing sample in American English on any topic
5. Your answer to this question: "Look at ---------- . What is one thing you would change about our SEO or content strategy in the first 30 days, and why?"

Applications without the question answered will not be reviewed. We want to see how you think, not just what you have done.
