Senior Tax Accountant (Australian Compliance)
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant with strong Australian compliance experience to join our team.
This is a production-focused role, responsible for preparing tax returns and financial statements for Australian entities, including companies, trusts, and individuals.
You will work directly with a team of Sydney-based accountants, supporting Australian clients in a structured, high-quality environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare Australian income tax returns for:
- Companies
- Trusts
- Partnerships
- Individuals
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with Australian accounting standards
- Complete BAS, IAS, and GST workings and lodgments
- Ensure all work complies with ATO requirements and internal quality standards
- Work through assigned job lists and meet turnaround deadlines
- Review work of junior accountants and assist with training where required
- Maintain clear and accurate working papers
- Escalate technical issues where required
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience in Australian tax compliance/accounting
Strong knowledge of:
- Australian tax return preparation
- GST, BAS, IAS
- Financial statement preparation
Experience with:
- Xero (essential)
- MYOB and/or QuickBooks (advantageous)
- High attention to detail and strong accuracy
- Ability to manage a consistent volume of work efficiently
- Comfortable working independently within structured processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or CA (or currently studying) is an advantage
