I am a Virtual Assistant posting this position on behalf of our dermatology clinic. We have a dedicated team of VAs, some of whom have been with us for over a year, reflecting our commitment to growth and long-term opportunities. We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Experienced Medical Biller to join our team. You will manage medical billing and coding tasks to ensure accurate and timely reimbursements. Dermatology experience is a plus but not required. Candidates must have at least two years of medical billing experience and be available for 20 hours per week during Pacific Time hours. You can work 40 hours if you’re open to other roles (answering phones).
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Review and resolve claim denials and rejections, working with insurance companies for prompt payment.
Maintain accurate patient billing records and update patient information.
Assist patients with billing inquiries, insurance coverage, and payment options.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to support seamless billing and coding processes.
Handle ad hoc administrative tasks related to billing and revenue cycle management.
Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times.
As you become proficient, opportunities to take on additional responsibilities will arise, with the potential to grow into a full-time role
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of experience as a medical biller; dermatology experience preferred but not mandatory.
Strong knowledge of medical billing and coding, including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work 20 hours per week during Pacific Time hours.
Proficiency with medical billing software and EMR/EHR systems.
Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
Ability to handle ad hoc tasks and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to be cross-trained in additional tasks such as patient scheduling and answering phone calls.
Trial Period
Candidates will undergo a one-week paid trial period to evaluate performance, workflow compatibility, and overall fit for the role
This trial also allows candidates to assess if the position aligns with their expectations and availability
Continued engagement or employment will be determined based on mutual fit and performance during the trial period
Technical Requirements:
Laptop or desktop with 8GB RAM, Core i5 or above.
USB headset with noise-cancellation feature.
Willingness to use video and conduct screen shares during shifts.
Hubstaff (time tracking).
Main internet speed: at least 75 Mbps (wired connection preferred)
