JOB OVERVIEW

Part-time, 20 hours per week, work your own hours.

We're seeking a highly accurate and fast-paced AI Quality Assurance Specialist for a part-time remote role (20 hours per week). This position involves reviewing AI-generated transcriptions of historical handwritten documents and correcting errors. The workflow requires maintaining a target output of verifying 800 names per hour using a streamlined, keyboard-driven interface.

Compensation:
$350 USD (includes $100 performance bonus) - 20 hours per week

About Us:
We are a remote-first technology startup building the largest verified digital archive of Mediterranean genealogical records. By combining proprietary Artificial Intelligence with human verification, we solve the transcription errors that currently plague legacy family history platforms. Our database maps millions of historical births, marriages, and household census records from the 1500s to the 1900s, providing a definitive, 100% curated index for a global diaspora.

Culture:
As a start-up, there's always lots to learn. It's not a top-down culture, we reward performance and focus on what's been achieved, not what's been missed.

The Role:
As a AI Quality Specialist, you provide the final quality control check before records are published to a live database.
1. Core Task: Visually cross-reference scanned images of 18th and 19th-century handwritten documents against text generated by our AI.
2. Correction: Quickly approve accurate matches and manually correct the 5% to 10% of names where the AI hallucinates or misinterprets the handwriting.
3. Speed & Efficiency: Maintain a baseline verification speed of 800 names per hour utilizing custom keyboard shortcuts to eliminate mouse dependency.
4. Linguistic Context: The records feature Mediterranean naming conventions (closely resembling Spanish, Italian, and Latin roots). You must adapt quickly to specific character combinations and cursive handwriting styles.

Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in high-volume data entry, transcription, or quality assurance.
- Exceptional visual attention to detail and the ability to sustain focus over long processing sessions.
- High proficiency in reading cursive handwriting and identifying phonetic spelling patterns.
- Reliable high-speed internet and a workstation optimized for fast, repetitive keyboard input.
- Be able to work the same 4 hour blocks in Week One for training.

Who this role is good for:
- You thrive in "flow state" environments and prefer highly repetitive, singular workflows over constantly shifting daily responsibilities.
- You have a proven background in medical transcription, legal data entry, or similar roles that demand sustained focus and accuracy over a full shift.
- You instinctively use keyboard shortcuts and hotkeys. You view using a computer mouse as a bottleneck to your processing speed.
- You don't get stuck on puzzles. If an 18th-century word is completely illegible, you are comfortable flagging it within 5 seconds and immediately moving to the next record.

BONUS: You have previously worked transcribing historical handwriting, have experience working with Latin or Italian text, or have worked in a role where you transcribed "doctor's handwriting" .
