We are looking for a highly skilled YouTube video editor to transform raw footage into immersive, cinematic experiences. This role isn't about fast-paced "retention editing"; it’s about building an atmosphere, mastering sound design, and letting the environment tell the story.
This channel is dedicated to sharing outdoor adventures through a lens of tranquility and awe. We believe that the most powerful stories aren't told through frantic cuts or loud personalities, but through the landscape itself. Our mission is to transport the viewer to the world’s most remote and beautiful destinations, providing a digital sanctuary that emphasizes the scale, silence, and serenity of the natural world.
We are looking for a dedicated Video Editor who can transform raw field footage into polished, immersive long-form experiences. This is a role for a storyteller who enjoys the "slow cinema" process—someone who can find the narrative thread in hours of wilderness footage and weave it into a cohesive journey.
Your day-to-day will involve:
• Narrative Curation: Reviewing 2–3 hours of raw footage to select the most impactful clips that build a 20–60 minute story.
• Color Grading: Bringing LOG footage to life with a "true-to-life" aesthetic—natural, vibrant, and sharp.
• Atmospheric Audio: Crafting a seamless audio flow where the environment speaks as loudly as the visuals.
• Musical Curation: Selecting tracks from our licensed library that complement, rather than overpower, the scene.
We operate under a "Place over Personality" philosophy. Your editing style should be cinematic and invisible—the viewer should not feel it’s over edited.
• Pacing: Slow and immersive. We want shots to breathe, giving the viewer time to register the emotion of a location.
• Subject Integration: We use people primarily for scale and perspective. We favor motion transitions (e.g., a subject walking through the frame) to move between scenes naturally.
• The Invisible Observer: The camera is a witness, never an intrusion. Your edits should maintain this sense of being a quiet observer of the journey.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Software Proficiency: Expert-level command of DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.
• Workflow: Experience managing a 4K 10-bit workflow and large file transfers.
• Color Mastery: Proven ability to grade LOG footage to a professional, natural finish.
• Sound Design: You must be skilled at working primarily with natural ambient sounds recorded in the field. While we provide a music library, the "music" of the wind, footsteps, and water is the priority.
• Attention to Detail: A high standard for technical polish, from frame-accurate cuts to clean audio transitions.
• Infrastructure: A reliable, high-speed internet connection for consistent file synchronization.
HOW TO APPLY To ensure we are a good creative match, please follow these steps carefully:
1 Review the Benchmark: Watch this video
2 Portfolio: Provide a link to your portfolio, specifically highlighting cinematic or outdoor adventure work. Applications without a portfolio link will not be reviewed.
3 Software Experience: Tell us about your journey with DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro. How many years have you used them? What are your strengths, and what areas are you currently developing?
4 Technical Specs: Please include your current internet upload/download speeds.
5 Submission: Send your application to our hiring
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a paid test edit to demonstrate their grasp of our specific pacing and color requirements. We look forward to seeing your vision.
