Part Time
$300 to $500/month

Hi there,
I'm a VP at a national real estate company based in Chicago. I'm in the early stages of building out a content brand on LinkedIn and Instagram, and I need a dedicated editor to help me turn my long-form video and podcasts into polished short-form clips, AND to keep the long-form pieces clean and professional.
Important, and please read this carefully:
This is a part-time role that starts small. I don't have a massive content library yet. I'm building one. To start, expect roughly 10 to 20 hours a week. The workload will grow over time as my recording schedule ramps up, and I want one person to grow with it instead of starting over every few months.
If you're someone who needs 40 hours a week from day one, this isn't the right fit yet. If you have a main gig or other clients and want to add a long-term, reliable side role that could grow into more, keep reading.
You will NOT be client-facing. No calls, no
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO EACH WEEK
Short-form work (Reels, LinkedIn video, IG clips, 15 to 60 seconds)
- Cut punchy short-form clips from my long-form videos and podcasts
- Add burned-in captions, hooks, b-roll, light motion, and trending pacing
- Make sure every clip is scroll-stopping in the first 2 seconds
Long-form work (full videos, podcasts, 5 to 45 minutes)
- Edit full-length videos and podcast episodes start to finish
- Remove filler words, tighten pacing, fix audio, add b-roll and light graphics
- Keep the long-form pieces clean, professional, and on-brand
Thumbnails and covers
- Design thumbnails, cover images, and simple graphics
- Make the content look like it came from a professional studio
WHAT I NEED YOU TO ALREADY KNOW
I don't care which editing program you live in. Use what makes you fast and gets the best result. What I care about is that you can actually do both sides of the work.
ALSO REQUIRED
- Experience doing BOTH short-form and long-form edits. I need both, not just one.
- A strong eye for pacing, composition, clean captions, and readable thumbnails
- Clean audio editing skills — you know how to remove filler words, fix levels, and make voiceovers sound professional
- Strong written English (captions need to be accurate and well-formatted)
NICE TO HAVE (NOT REQUIRED)
- Motion graphics or After Effects basics
- Podcast editing experience
- Familiarity with LinkedIn and Instagram video best practices
WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE FOR YOU
- 10 to 20 hours a week to start, with flexibility on when you work
- $300 to $500/month to start, based on experience and portfolio
- Paid on time every two weeks via PayPal or Wise
- Long-term role. As my content output grows, your hours and pay grow with it. This is meant to scale with me over the next year or two.
- 13th month bonus once you cross the 12-month mark
TO APPLY, PLEASE ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS IN YOUR REPLY
1. Send me a short-form clip (under 60 seconds) you cut from a longer piece. I want to see the actual work, not just hear about it. Tell me which tool you edited it in.
2. Send me one long-form piece (5 minutes or longer) you edited. Video or podcast, both fine. Tell me which tool you used.
3. Which editing tools do you use for short-form vs. long-form, and how long have you been using each?
4. Send me one thumbnail or cover graphic you've designed that you're proud of.
5. Are you currently working with other clients, and if so how many hours do you have open per week?
6. What's your internet speed and do you have a backup connection?
7. At the top of your reply, type the word "Chicago" so I know you actually read this post.
I read every application personally. Generic copy-paste replies get ignored. If you take 15 minutes to send me a real answer, I'll take 15 minutes to read it.
Thanks,
Peter
