Position: Insurance Biller
Company: Christina Anderson RDN LLC / The Gymnast Nutritionist
Hours: 30-40hrs per month. We need a minimum of 7hrs per week
Contract Type: Independent Contractor
Compensation: Between $10-$15 per hour depending on experience.
Location: Fully Remote. Must be available to work North American Hours such as 9-5 MST

About The Gymnast Nutritionist
Christina Anderson RDN, LLC | The Gymnast Nutritionist is a 100% virtual sports nutrition and consulting practice that helps gymnasts learn to fuel for optimal performance. We work with high level gymnasts, parents, and coaches who are trying to find that “edge” or learn to use food as fuel (not something that is seen as the enemy). We’re known for not just teaching gymnasts about nutrition for performance, but how to fuel for life beyond sport and a healthy relationship with food + body.
We primarily work with upper level gymnasts (optionals/elite/NCAA) but also serve our younger gymnast population and gymnastics clubs/organization through online education. These gymnasts, parents, and coaches “know” there is something to nutrition and want to do everything they can to give their gymnast the opportunity to reach their goals and dreams.
Job Summary
The Insurance Biller will be responsible for handling insurance claims, verifying patient coverage, resolving denials, and ensuring accurate billing for The Gymnast Nutritionist’s services. This role requires knowledge of medical billing for nutrition services, CPT codes, and insurance reimbursement processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify insurance benefits and eligibility for new clients in a timely manner to help us with enrolments
- Verify insurance benefits and eligibility for existing clients, ensuring coverage for nutrition services and being able to clearly communicate benefit details to the company and clients
- Submit insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner for medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and related services.
- Follow Up on Denied Claims to determine reasons and re-process the claim if applicable
- Review claims to ensure proper coding, documentation, and compliance with insurance policies.
- Follow up on outstanding claims to resolve denials, underpayments, and delays.
- Manage appeals and resubmissions, working with insurance providers to secure reimbursements.
- Bill clients for co-pays, deductibles
- Post payments and reconcile accounts, ensuring accurate records in billing systems.
- Communicate with team about insurance coverage, claim statuses, and any out-of-pocket costs.
- Properly file all insurance related documents into client folders
- Update client profiles in EHR with insurance coverage notes
- Stay updated on insurance policies and CPT codes related to dietitian services and nutrition counseling.
- Collaborate with the nutrition team to optimize billing processes and improve reimbursement success.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing (preferably in nutrition, dietetics, or wellness services).
- Familiarity with CPT codes for medical nutrition therapy (e.g., 97802, 97803, 99404), preventive vs medical benefits, how deductibles and cost-shares work, etc
- Knowledge of insurance claim submission portals and EHR systems such as Practice Better and ClaimMD.
- Strong understanding of insurance verification, prior authorization, and reimbursement processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to track claims and payments.
- Strong communication skills to interact with insurance providers and clients.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while managing multiple claims.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with nutrition practices, dietitians, or wellness providers.
- Familiarity with practice management software like Practice Better
- Knowledge of private insurance and Medicaid billing for nutrition services.
