JOB OVERVIEW

WHO WE ARE

We're a small, fast-growing web design agency that works primarily with coaches and expertise-based businesses. We help them grow their businesses through beautiful, strategic web design and marketing.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a skilled Video Editor to join our team and own the editing of our agency's YouTube channel and short-form social content. This content is how we market ourselves and attract new clients, so your work will directly help us grow.

Currently, the owner (that's me, Jennie) films talking-head educational videos and tutorials for service businesses, expertise-based businesses, and online businesses (think coaches, consultants, and more). I handle the filming, scripting, and rough cuts. That means I remove the bad takes and mark up the script with notes on where I think B-roll, graphics, or visual interest should go.

What I need from you is the creative expertise to take that foundation and make it *good*. You'll bring the pacing, transitions, motion graphics, text overlays, sound design, and visual storytelling that turn an educational talking-head video into something people actually want to watch.

This role is primarily focused on long-form YouTube content, with additional light editing on short-form clips (Reels, Shorts, etc.) for our social channels. We'd like to get to 2–3 long-form videos a month and work our way toward weekly long-form over time. I need someone who can grow with us.

You'll report directly to me and collaborate with our team as needed. We'll connect via Zoom as needed, and you're welcome to work normal hours in your time zone.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your job will be to use your past experience to:

- Edit 2–3 long-form YouTube videos per month from pre-cut raw footage and a marked-up script, working our way toward weekly long-form over time
- Edit approximately 3–5 short-form video clips per week (Reels, Shorts). These are light edits, mostly clipping b-roll I record for funny reels and adding text to them
- Add motion graphics, text overlays, transitions, B-roll suggestions, and sound design that make educational content visually engaging
- Bring your own creative perspective. I'll give you editorial notes, but I'm not a video editor, so I really appreciate you bringing your creative eye on what will keep viewers watching
- Maintain meticulous quality control. That means catching audio issues, awkward cuts, mismatched graphics, typos in text overlays, and anything that doesn't feel polished
- Deliver final files on schedule so our publishing workflow stays on track
- Occasionally support a small number of client video projects with similar editing work
- Optional: Create thumbnails for YouTube videos. A great plus, but not required!

EXPERIENCE

We care more about a high skill level than years of experience, but we expect that you have at least 2 years of experience editing video content, ideally for YouTube or other social platforms.

You're proficient with professional editing software. We prefer tools like Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro, but we're open to your preferred tool as long as the output is professional quality.

You have a strong eye for pacing and visual storytelling in educational, talking-head content. You know how to keep a viewer engaged through smart cuts, well-timed graphics, and visual variety, even when the core content is someone talking to a camera.

You can work with motion graphics and text overlays confidently. Meaning you should be comfortable creating clean lower thirds and simple graphic elements that make the content easier to follow.

You have meticulous QA habits. You catch audio sync issues, color inconsistencies, typos in on-screen text and awkward transitions before anything is delivered.

Oh, and you get a little thrill when the video you edited becomes an outlier video for the channel!

You're not shy about being (humbly) confident enough to push back and share your creative opinion. If you think a cut isn't working, a graphic would help, or the pacing needs to change, I want to hear it. We encourage that.

You're comfortable collaborating using Google Drive and Zoom, and optionally Notion for our content calendar.

HOW WE WILL HELP YOU SUCCEED

We want you to succeed in this role. We will provide any additional training you may need to get on board and hit the ground running. We're not going to teach you how to edit video because your past experience will serve you well.

However, we will train you regarding our brand, our audience, our content style, and our workflow so you can apply your skills to help us achieve our mission. We will listen to you encourage you to bring your entire self to work. We are humans first, work colleagues second.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE

This is a flexible role based on the time it takes to deliver the expected output (2–3 long-form videos per month + 3–5 short-form clips per week). That may be full-time for you, or it may not. We're open to discussing what works. We're not looking for an agency.
