Vijapura Psychiatry is a boutique integrative psychiatry practice based in Florida. We are looking for a detail-oriented, proactive Insurance Verification Specialist to join our remote operations team. This role is central to our revenue cycle — you will ensure every patient's benefits are accurately verified before appointments, with a focus on psychiatric and behavioral health services.
About the Role
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for new and returning psychiatric patients prior to scheduled appointments
Check mental health/behavioral health-specific benefits: deductible, out-of-pocket, copay/coinsurance, authorization requirements, in-network vs. out-of-network status
Log verification data accurately into PracticeQ (our EMR) using standardized workflows
Contact insurance companies via payer portals and phone to obtain and confirm benefit details
Flag authorization requirements and coordinate with front desk and clinical staff as needed
Maintain organized records and communicate benefit summaries to the patient-facing team
Follow up on pending verifications and resolve discrepancies proactively
Assist with re-verification for recurring patients, plan changes, and annual deductible resets
Required Qualifications Required
Minimum 12 months of insurance verification experience specifically in a psychiatry or behavioral health setting
Demonstrated experience working with multiple commercial insurance carriers (e.g., Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealth/Optum, Florida Blue, BCBS, Medicare Advantage)
Proficient in navigating insurance payer portals for eligibility and benefit checks (Availity, payer-specific portals)
Strong understanding of mental health benefit structures: Telehealth coverage differences
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Highly organized, self-directed, and reliable in a remote environment
Ability to work during U.S. Eastern Time Zone business hours
Preferred Qualifications Preferred
Experience using PracticeQ (EHR/practice management system) for entering and tracking verification data
Familiarity with Spruce Health or similar HIPAA-compliant messaging platforms
Prior experience with telehealth billing and virtual visit insurance requirements
Background working with Florida-based payers
Experience in a small or boutique practice environment where you wore multiple hats
