Who We Are

Rareform Audio and Black Sheep Music are a music and audio post production house specializing in music for movie trailers, ads, film, and TV. Rareform Production Music is our production music imprint — built to deliver world class cinematic music across a wide range of styles and moods. We hold ourselves to an obsessive standard of excellence and we only work with composers who feel the same way.

The Role

We are building our composer roster and looking for talented cinematic composers to collaborate with on a per project basis. You will be given briefs, creative direction, and album concepts — and your job is to deliver high quality, professionally mixed and mastered cues that are ready for placement.

We are not looking for one sound. We are looking for composers who are versatile and can move across styles — but we also understand that everyone has their strengths and specialties. We are open to finding where you fit best within our catalog and our team.

Styles We Are Looking For

- Orchestral mockups and hybrid cinematic scores
- Action, thriller, and tension driven cues
- Horror and dark atmospheric music
- Emotional piano and string suites
- Percussive and rhythmic cinematic cues
- Epic and uplifting cinematic music

You do not need to do all of these. But the more range you have the more opportunities we can bring your way.

What We're Looking For

- A genuine cinematic composer — not a beatmaker or hip hop producer looking to crossover
- Able to write, arrange, mix, and master to a professional standard and deliver broadcast ready cues
- Strong understanding of orchestration and how to build dynamics, tension, and emotion
- Versatile across multiple cinematic styles and moods
- Self directed and able to deliver on brief with minimal back and forth
- Reliable — deadlines are real and we need composers who honor them
- Open to creative direction and feedback without taking it personally

Important Attributes We Hire For

We build our roster around infinite learners, self-directed problem solvers, and people with high standards of excellence. If you hold yourself to a high bar because that is just who you are — not because someone is watching — you will fit here.

This Is NOT For You If

- Your background is primarily hip hop, pop, or beat production with no cinematic experience
- You cannot mix and master your own work to a professional standard
- You struggle to deliver on brief or need excessive direction
- You are not reliable with deadlines
- Your demo reel does not speak for itself

1. Who you are and what your background as a composer looks like
2. Where your strengths lie — what styles and sounds you do best
3. Where your weaknesses are — what styles you are still developing or don't feel as natural in

That last question matters to us. We are not looking for someone who claims to do everything perfectly. We are looking for someone self aware enough to know their craft deeply — strengths and all.
