Who We Are
We run a video ad creative agency for local service businesses in Idaho, USA — think tree services, roofing companies, HVAC, epoxy coatings, cleaners, and more. We film the content on location and script the ads. We need a sharp editor who can take raw footage and turn it into scroll-stopping short-form ads.
This is not a fancy corporate agency. We move fast, the work is direct-response, and speed and quality work is necessary.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Each project starts with:
- Raw footage (multiple takes per scene)
- A script document with notes on what to cut or keep
- A brief with the target audience, ad objective, and vibe
Your job is to:
Review all footage and select the best takes
Assemble the full edit according to the script direction
Add engaging captions — styled, animated, synced tight to speech
Choose background music that fits the tone (we'll give direction)
Do light color grading to make footage pop
Add simple motion graphics or animations as needed (nothing crazy — clean and engaging)
Export in proper formats for Meta (9:16, 1:1, and 16:9 when needed)
Deliver within agreed turnaround time (typically 2-3 business days per video)
You're a Fit If...
You've edited short-form content before — Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or paid ads
You understand pacing for direct-response video (hook fast, keep attention, don't drag)
You're good at caption styling — not just auto-subtitles, but actually designed and animated captions
You can pick music without being told exactly what song — you have an ear for it
You're fast and reliable — you hit deadlines (24hr turnaround)
You communicate clearly when something is unclear instead of guessing
You can take feedback well
You're NOT a Fit If...
You've only edited long-form YouTube or talking-head podcasts with no pacing sense
Your captions are plain white auto-generated text with no design
You need hand-holding on basic editing decisions
You're slow to respond or miss deadlines without warning
You expect to use templates and not think creatively
Tools We Use:
Footage delivered via Dropbox
Scripts and briefs in Slack
Final delivery via
Communication via Slack
You can use whatever editing software you're most efficient in — Premiere, Final Cut, DaVinci, CapCut Pro — as long as the output quality is there.
What a Great Application Looks Like
We skip applicants who send a generic cover letter with no examples. Show us short-form work — especially anything resembling direct-response ads or social content for local/service businesses. A Loom walkthrough of your editing process is a major plus.
2-3 examples of short-form video edits (links preferred, Google Drive or Vimeo ok)
Brief note on your editing setup and software
Your per-video rate or hourly rate expectation
Typical turnaround time for a 30-60 second edit
Optional: Loom video walking through one of your edits and explaining your decisions
