*please read the entire job post before applying*
I’m looking for a full-time content-minded video editor who is genuinely obsessed with content.
And to be clear…
I am not just looking for a “video editor.”
I’m looking for someone who can help own my content and take it from:
raw footage ? edited video ? thumbnail ? clips ? published content
In other words:
I want someone who thinks in full systems, not just someone who edits clips.
This role is for someone who wants to help manage the entire content flow, not just wait for footage and complete tasks.
If you’re the kind of person who naturally thinks:
“How do we make this video stronger?”
“How do we package this better?”
“How do we improve retention?”
“How do we turn one piece of content into multiple strong assets?”
“How do we make this whole process smoother and better?”
…then you’re probably the kind of person I’m looking for.
If video editing feels like “just a job” to you, this probably isn’t the right fit.
I want someone who eats, sleeps, and breathes content.
About Me
I create content in the mid-term rental niche, which is sort of like Airbnb / furnished rentals / real estate investing.
My content is centered around:
Mid-term rentals
Real estate investing
Entrepreneurship
Business / wealth-building
My YouTube channel currently has 3,000+ subscribers:
My Goal With Content
I want to be very clear about this:
My goal is NOT to go viral.
My goal is to create the best, most engaging content in my niche.
I’d much rather have:
1,000 highly engaged followers
than
10,000,000 random followers who don’t care
So I’m not looking for someone who just wants to make flashy edits for the sake of it.
I’m looking for someone who understands how to make content:
clean
professional
engaging
watchable
valuable
and strong for my specific audience
What You’ll Be Responsible For
This role is about much more than just editing.
I’m looking for someone who can help take content from raw to ready.
That means helping own the process from:
raw footage
to polished edits
to thumbnails
to clips
to content that is fully ready to publish
To start, your main responsibilities will include:
Editing YouTube long-form videos
Editing podcast episodes
Creating YouTube thumbnails
Repurposing content into Instagram clips / short-form content
And over time, I’d love for this role to grow into helping with things like:
YouTube SEO
content packaging
topic ideas
titles
workflow improvements
and helping increase overall content output
This is not just a “video editing” job.
This is a content role.
Current Content Workload
Right now, the workload is roughly:
1 YouTube video per week
2 podcast episodes per week
plus clipping content for Instagram / short-form
The types of videos you’d be working on include:
Talking head YouTube videos
Podcast episodes
Property walkthroughs
Screen-share / educational videos
Growth Opportunity
I also want to be transparent about this:
My goal is to increase the amount of YouTube content over time
as the right person gets more comfortable with my style, workflow, and brand.
So if this is a great fit, there is definitely room for this role to grow.
I’m not just looking for someone to “help here and there.”
I’m looking for someone who can become a real part of the content machine and help me produce more high-quality content consistently.
Long-Form Editing
You’ll be responsible for editing YouTube videos and podcast episodes in a way that makes them feel:
tighter
cleaner
more engaging
more polished
easier to watch
This may include:
pacing improvements
cuts
zooms / punch-ins
text overlays
B-roll
sound design
light motion graphics
improving overall flow and watchability
I don’t need flashy edits for the sake of flashy edits.
I care much more about:
strong pacing
clear storytelling
retention
and making the content actually enjoyable to watch
Short-Form Content
You’ll also be responsible for clipping long-form content into:
Instagram Reels / short-form clips
This includes:
finding strong
identifying good hooks
creating engaging clips
adding captions when needed
making clips feel native to short-form platforms
I want someone who can help me get more mileage out of each piece of content, not just edit one long-form video and move on.
YouTube Thumbnails
You’ll also be responsible for creating:
YouTube thumbnails from scratch
This is a big part of the role.
I want someone who understands:
curiosity
click-through rate
clean but strong design
what makes someone actually click
You do not need to create over-the-top, gimmicky thumbnails.
I care much more about:
strong packaging
good taste
and thumbnails that fit my niche and audience
What I’m REALLY Looking For
I do not want someone who needs constant hand-holding.
I’m looking for someone who:
takes ownership
thinks proactively
catches mistakes before I have to
pays attention to detail
actually cares about quality
wants to improve the content, not just “finish the task”
The ideal person for this role is someone who can eventually help me think not just like an editor…
…but like someone who is helping run the content side of the business.
If you wait to be told exactly what to do every step of the way, this won’t be the right fit.
Big Dealbreakers
A few things that are a hard no for me:
needing too much hand-holding
careless mistakes
obvious typos
sloppy work
low attention to detail
generic / low-effort edits
weak communication
missing deadlines
I care a lot about:
speed
creativity
reliability
communication
attention to detail
So yes — I’m looking for someone who is really good.
Bonus If You Also Have Experience With:
This is not required, but definitely a plus:
YouTube SEO
titles / topic ideas
audience retention strategy
content packaging
helping improve overall video performance
working with business / real estate / educational YouTube channels
Over time, I’d love for this role to become bigger than just editing.
Ideally, I want someone who can eventually help with:
what topics to post
how to package videos better
how to improve content performance
and how to make the whole content system run better
Who This Is a Great Fit For
This role is probably a great fit if:
you are obsessed with YouTube
you study content in your free time
you notice what makes videos good
you genuinely enjoy editing
you care about making content better, not just “done”
you want to be part of building something
This role is NOT a great fit if:
you need to be told every little step
you don’t care about quality
you rush through work carelessly
you’re just looking for another random client
Important: This Is a Full-Time Role
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week).
I’m looking for someone who wants to be a real part of what I’m building — not someone juggling a bunch of other clients and trying to squeeze this in. I must be your only current client!
I’m flexible on working hours, but:
deadlines and communication are non-negotiable.
This is strictly full-time only.
How To Apply
If you apply, please send me the following:
1. Your best past work
Please send:
2–3 examples of YouTube videos you’ve edited
Any thumbnails you’ve created
Anything you’ve worked on that you think is relevant
I especially want to see your experience editing for YouTube, not just random video projects.
2. Your thumbnail test
Go to my YouTube channel and pick one thumbnail I’ve already used.
Then:
recreate it in your own style
or improve it if you think it could be stronger
You are welcome to watermark your work if you’d like.
This will help me quickly see:
your taste
your design instincts
and how you think
3. Answer these questions in your application
Please answer:
What YouTube channels or creators do you think are edited/packaged really well?
Why do you think you’d be a good fit for this role?
What makes a YouTube video engaging in your opinion?
4. What softwares are you most comfortable using?
Final Note
I’m not looking for average.
I’m looking for someone who is:
talented
sharp
creative
detail-oriented
proactive
and genuinely excited about making great content
If that sounds like you, I’d love to hear from you.
