About: CATSUMO makes cat toys that bring out your cat's inner wrestler. We're a US-based DTC brand selling on our own site and Amazon, growing fast on TikTok and Instagram. Our content is playful, punchy, and a little absurd — in the best way.
The Role: We're looking for a creative, reliable VA to edit short-form videos, write scroll-stopping copy, and support UGC creator outreach / Product Seeding. Part-time to start, with room to grow.
What You'll Do
Video Editing — primary focus (~65% of role)
Edit short-form vertical videos (TikTok, Instagram Reels) using CapCut or equivalent
Add captions, text overlays, sound effects, trending audio, and transitions
Resize and reformat existing content for different platforms
Produce a minimum of 6–8 polished videos per week from raw footage or UGC clips we provide, with capacity to scale during campaign periods
Maintain consistent brand tone: playful, punchy, never boring
Writing (~15% of role)
Write captions, hooks, and on-screen text that stop the scroll
Adapt copy for TikTok vs. Instagram tone and format
Help draft outreach messages and follow-up scripts for creator contacts
UGC & Product Seeding Outreach (~20% of role)
Research and identify micro-influencers and cat content creators on TikTok and Instagram
Send outreach using scripts and templates we provide, track responses and follow-ups in Google Sheets
Help coordinate product shipment details with interested creators
Spot and flag strong UGC content that could be repurposed for ads or organic posts

What We're Looking For

Required:
• At least 1 year of experience editing short-form social media videos professionally
• Proficient in CapCut (desktop or mobile) — other tools like VN, DaVinci, or Premiere are a plus
• Strong eye for pacing, hooks, and what makes a video stop the scroll
• Comfortable writing in a casual, brand-consistent English voice for DMs
• Reliable internet connection and a computer capable of video editing
• Self-starter who can work independently with clear briefs

Nice to Have:
• Experience working with a US-based DTC or ecommerce brand
• Familiarity with TikTok trends, sounds, and the creator ecosystem
• Experience doing influencer outreach or product seeding
• Love of cats is a genuine plus ????

What We're NOT Looking For:
• Beginners or aspiring editors still building their skills — we need someone who can produce independently from day one
• Applicants without a portfolio or work samples
• Anyone who can't commit to consistent weekly availability

Hours & Schedule

• 15–20 hours per week to start, with potential to grow
• Flexible schedule — we care about output, not clock-watching
• Must be available for a weekly 30-minute video check-in (async Loom or live, your choice)
• US Pacific or Mountain time zone overlap preferred (even a few hours)

Rate

$8–$10/hr USD depending on experience and portfolio quality. We pay weekly via Wise or PayPal.

Stage 2 — Paid Test Project (shortlisted applicants only)
You'll receive raw footage and a short brief. From that, you'll produce two videos:
One optimized for TikTok inspired by existing content
One optimized for Instagram Reels inspired by existing content
$25 paid upon delivery. 48-hour turnaround required.
Stage 3 — Interview (applicants whose test videos are approved)
A casual 30-minute video call to meet, answer your questions, and confirm fit before we move forward :)

We respond to every complete application within 3 business days.
